The Beech Forest Chapter DAR and VEW Post dedicated a government marker on the grave of James Waits in Taylor's Chapel Cemetery Sterling Township Brown County. Attendees recited the pledge, fired a volley, and taps followed by renewed faith in one nation under God. Waits, born 1760 in Virginia, died 1855, is buried with his wife Margaret Livengood and descendants in Clermont and Brown Counties. J W Smith of Williamsburg attended as a descendant.

Officials Quizzed On County Garbage Disposal Problems

About 44 000 Ohio Army Ready Reservists could join active duty if Kennedy mobilizes 150 000. Of these, 3 800 are not susceptible due to Berlin mobilization in 1961. Nearly 16 000 belong to Ohio’s 221 paying units. 27 000 are in a Ready Reserve pool. Standby Reserve adds 21 000 Ohioans. Largest eligible group is the 83d Infantry Division with 7 400 members in 81 units, based in Cleveland with units statewide and in West Virginia.

Amelia Man Carl Brockman 55 Dies After Heart Ailment
Carl F. Brockman 55 of 32 Huntington Ave Amelia died at Cincinnati Veterans Hospital after heart surgery. A high mass was held at St. Bernadette Church with interment at Mt. Moriah Cemetery. He conducted a heating service business 22 years and is survived by wife Elizabeth, four children Patricia Pittman John T Carlotta Betsy, a brother William Brockman a sister Anna Hoobler and two grandchildren.

Prepaid tax receipts and advance payments in Clermont County totaled $12,287.54 for the week ending Sept 6, per state treasurer Joseph T. Ferguson. This year’s cumulation reaches $162,018.57 versus $106,153.70 last year. Vehicle sales and use tax paid in the same week was $8,385.40, up from $3,372.04 in 1961.
