Duct Hoisted at Beckford Station for New CGE Unit
The last major piece of equipment for Cincinnati Gas and Electric's new fifth generating unit at Beckford Station near New Richmond was lifted into place. A 22 by 10 by 37 foot duct weighing 30,000 pounds will carry flue gas to the 515 foot stack. The unit, rated 240,000 kilowatts, will raise Beckford's rating to 730,000 and CG&E's system to 1,468,000 kilowatts when operational this fall.

Two Women Die In Head On Crash Near Wedford Ky
Mrs Emily Erina Woods 39 of 28 Donna Dr and Miss Sherry Lynm Pettis 18 of 1742 Friartuck Ln Mt Washington were killed in a head on crash with a fire truck on Route 42 three miles west of Wedford Ky. The car burst into flames after impact. both women were badly burned. Mrs Woods was returning from Louisville where her son Barry Woods had entered the university as a freshman. Barry, a former Courier compositor, is named along with Mrs Woods husband Howard and Mr and Mrs George Pettis of Mt Washington as survivors.

Milford youth dies after ten months of illness
Allen David McKay aged 14 died early last week at St Marys Hospital Wapakoneta Ohio after injuries from a November Wooster Pike crash that killed his parents Howard David and Rita Foos McKay of Walnut Street Milford. Survived by sister Theresa Sue nine, grandparents Raymond Foos, Mr and Mrs Raymond Foos of Wapakoneta and H P McKay of New Bremen. He was a student at St Andrews Junior High and member of its parish. Burial at St Joseph Cemetery Wapakoneta.

Missing Child Found Along Tracks Near Batavia
A five year old Batavia girl Yvonne Maynard missing from home was found along the N and W railroad tracks between Batavia and Afton. She was dirty and frightened but unhurt. A search party led by Chief Ed Colonel and joined by Patrolman Richard Davis, volunteers, and life squad members located her after a railroad employee reported sighting.

Clermont Northeastern principals reported 1953 total district enrollment, up 85 from last May, with 479 at high school, 202 in grades 1-7 at Marathon, 481 in grades 1-8 at Newtonsville, and 791 at Owensville.
