A Batavia safety patrol organized this week to protect children walking to and from school. Paul K. Moore selects patrolmen led by Sydney Sullivan with nineteen helpers. Patrols cover seven buses and key intersections to supervise loading and crossing. Local officer Frank Perry advised patrols and will cooperate with enforcement. The program followed a successful playground and recreation effort from 1939 to 1940, supported by the village board, American Legion, Eagles, and Rotary Club, serving sixty to seventy youths daily with diverse games and a nine team softball league.
