More than 22,000 coins have been dispensed by Clermont National Bank and its branches in a unique green sale. Customers swap $1 bills for 98 cents in coins and receive 92 bills for $1.95, drawing early-week response.
Maintenance supervisor Russell Simmons announced two major projects in Clermont County. A new state highway garage on Rt. 132 near Hamlet will cost about 200000 with bids from The Jack Seyferth Co for general construction and Schweitzer Construction Co for the salt shed. The project moves from Batavia to a central location for better service. Fourteen miles of US 52 will be paved from New Richmond to the Brown County line, with 3.8 miles on Rt. 132 from Hamlet to Batavia and 186100 estimated total project cost.
Treasurer Byron Ross announced real estate tax duplicates will close on Friday September 18 to balance records and certify collection to the county auditor. No payments will be processed for over thirty days. taxpayers may forward payments by check or money order, held until duplicates reopen.
Batavia attorneys Harold Nichols and Russell F Speidel attended committee meetings of the Ohio State Bar Association at Columbus last weekend Nichols sits on the Corporation Law Committee while Speidel serves on the Probate Law Committee The groups propose changes in law for the Legislature starting next January.
The County Board of Elections announces regular polling places will open September 22 for voter registration from 10 am to 2 pm and 4 pm to 9 pm, with the board office in the courthouse annex open 9 am to 9 pm. Register if you will be 21 by November 3 and meet residency and citizenship requirements.

Clermont County Prosecutor Ralph A. Hill warned of fake termite exterminators active in southern and central Ohio. The scammers use multiple names and offer a low cost inspection to frighten homeowners, then sign contracts for ineffective treatments. Police are investigating. two suspects arrested and eight others known to be active. Hill urged homeowners to verify companies with his office.
Harley Clark named chairman of Clermont County Republican Finance Committee by George C. Sidwell replacing Harold C. Danner. Clark, a Pierce Township trustee and Amelia businessman since 1952, has long been active in the county party and was re elected precinct committeeman last May.
County commissioners accept three low bids from Pinckney P. Brewer for blacktopping Newtonsville Hutchinson Wolfpen Pleasant Hill and Terrace Drive totaling 33 565. Engineer to estimate Walnut Lane upgrades to county standards. Officials plan a Washington trip to evaluate an 185 000 federal grant for a 370 000 expansion program.
Harold Nichols of Nichols Speidel and Nichols told the Clermont County Bar Association in September that Ohio has long had a civil rights law similar to the federal act. He noted the long standing state provisions and suggested there would be no basic change in enforcement.
Gerald Lee Edwards one year old son of Mr and Mrs Hugh Edwards of 1287 Woodville Pike drowned in a bucket of laundry starch at 10 25 am Wednesday. He died on arrival at Our Lady of Mercy Hospital after being rushed by Newtonsville Life Squad. Sheriff deputy Frank Hutchinson said the child crawled to the bucket and fell in headfirst as his mother hung out a wash in the backyard.
