Try For Second Dog Truck Fails At County Humane Meeting

Record Enrollment In County Schools

Clermont County schools opened on September 1 with a record enrollment of 13,934 despite Edenton Miamiville and Monroe leaving the county system in the past two years. Superintendent L G House reports 520 teachers, a record staffing level, with further additions planned. Last year’s first week enrollment was 13,170. West Clermont operated its kindergarten during summer due to overcrowding, offsetting total enrollment by about 600.

Felicity E Seaman named director of research for Product Acceptance and Research Inc headquartered in Evansville Indiana. He chairs Felicity Village Council United Appeal drive and serves as Republican committeeman. Seaman a UC graduate with a Xavier University master’s degree leads field research at Kroger Co since 1957 and heads Resadmar Inc. He and his wife have four children.

Rev Samuel B Wenger, former prison chaplain, will assume duties as pastor of Mt Holly United Church of Christ. A native of Ohio, he studied at Manchester College and earned degrees from Nebraska and Chicago Theological Seminary. He has pastored in Kansas Nebraska Michigan and Kentucky and served eight years as chaplain at the State Prison of Southern Michigan. The Wengers relocate to Amelia and will begin at Mt Holly with a Sept 18 service at 10 45 a.m. An invitation to worship is extended to all.

Attorney Harold Nichols will train volunteers in first aid as the group plans an ambulance fund drive of 1 000 dollars and seeks civic participation from physicians nurses trustees and village officials. Company B Receives Merit Award for Outstanding Training

Company B of the First Battle Group 147th Infantry earned the award of merit at Camp Grayling Michigan on August 26 for being the top unit in its group during the past year of training. The Batavia Blanchester area unit comprises 123 enlisted men and six officers with two platoons headquartered at Batavia.

Rites Wednesday For Crash Victim Edward C. Jones

Funeral services were held for Edward C. Jones 77 of Mt Pisgah who died in an automobile crash on Rt 132 near Hamlet. Interment followed at Mt Pisgah Cemetery. Sheriff Dericks reported Jones was a passenger in a car driven by Robert Lungmus. Lungmus remains in critical condition. Jones survived by seven daughters and four sons.
