Labor Day misfortune and a river rescue near Milford
Rain drenched the region over Labor Day weekend as East Fork waters rose three feet and the Little Miami River swelled eleven feet. Four people stranded near Camp Dennison were rescued with ropes and help from Indian Hill Rangers and Milford residents. A Milford man remained trapped but was saved. Courthouse reporters found little major news as crews stayed focused on daily routine.

Souths mark 54th wedding anniversary on farm near Lebanon
Mr and Mrs Frank South celebrated their 54th anniversary on Sept 6 at their own farm near Lebanon. They have four children Wilbur and Charles, two daughters Mrs Warner and Mrs Walter Hauck. The couple lived in Clermont and Warren counties before settling in Lebanon. Mrs Roseanna Lanham, an 87 year old Williamsburg hotel operator, is Mrs South's mother. Congratulations were extended to the couple now living at Lebanon No. 8.

Girl crushed to death by fountain during hide and seek
Shirley Ryan age six died last Wednesday when a cement fish pond fountain toppled onto her while she tried to escape a yard pond on Murdock Pike. The incident also left her playmate Jeanne injured in a separate car collision nearby. Funeral services were held in Winfield, Tennessee.
