Bridge Repair Keeps East Fork Crossing Closed Eight Weeks

The South Milford Road bridge over the East Fork of the Little Miami River remains shut for about eight weeks after Sept. 12. Clermont County Engineer Walter C. Carter notes the project removes the floor, repairs and reinforces stringers floor beams and lower panel points of the trusses with sand blasting and painting.

Commissioners to tour Moscow nuclear plant visit

Cincinnati Gas Bless La invites Clermont County commissioners to tour the William Zimmer nuclear generating plant under construction at Moscow on Sept. 29. A film and slides will illustrate construction phases, followed by a guided tour and a Q A session at Beckford power station west of New Richmond.

McKinniss Named New Richmond Schools Superintendent

Richard E. McKinniss, 48, longtime Blanchester schools head since 1968, was named superintendent of New Richmond schools replacing Robert Tucker who resigned to become Pierce Township elementary principal. McKinniss holds a bachelor of education from Oberlin College and a master’s from Miami University.

Road Closings Ignite Dispute Over Aulen Road Fate

Thirteen residents met with Stonelick Township Trustees on Sept 7 to press that the township must maintain Aulen Road after a March ruling by Judge Louis Schwartz. Trustees, citing an Attorney General opinion, argue 21 years of nonuse ends township responsibility. They proposed vacating Aulen Road and about eight additional miles township wide, due to financial strain. New supervisor McKinniss brings 26 years in education, formerly leading Blanchester and Talawanda districts.

Public meetings set on US 50 relocation

Hamilton County Commissioners and Administrator R A Anderegg announce five public meetings on relocating US 50. Attendees include Ohio Department of Transportation officials, O K I Regional Council of Governments, and private engineers. Public input will guide whether to pursue relocation and address potential issues.

Repairs underway on St. Rt. 32 near Batavia

District construction engineer Jim Grant describes a million dollar project to stabilize State Route 32 from old 74 to Batavia. Crews will divert a hillside landslide with drainage work and replace stressed joints with blacktop to maintain traffic while repairs continue through Aug. 31, 1978.
