Unclaimed prizes loom in Clermont County contest

A 5 000 Day ticket once worth 279 50 expired on September 1 as prizes including a Crosley TV Dormeyer Electric Mixer and Brownie Hawkeye Camera went unclaimed. A related local contest will soon announce prizes and the TV may reach a Clermont County home before Christmas Eve.

Mysterious Park Blaze Probed After $7500 Loss

Officials investigate a Riverside Park fire at Milford Athletic Club facilities with $7500 damage. Waterworks chief Hilge saw a light flare into flames near a storeroom as cans of paint exploded from heat. A prior porch blaze at the Park clubhouse had minor damage and remains under inquiry.

Eight Clermont County medical professionals including five dentists and three physicians reported for pre induction medical examinations. Hit Skipping Motorist Fined By Milford Mayor

Four persons were fined last Friday night in Rinckhoff's ville Ohio for reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident. One motorist, F. B. Hartnagel of Cincinnati, was fined $90 and costs. another was fined $60 and costs for reckless driving and $200 and costs for failing to stop and report the crash after a Milford collision. State Highway police arrested the driver at Milford police officials’ request.

Whitmer Says Race Track Not Opposed

J J Whitmer stated no local opposition to a stock car track at the fair grounds in Owensville, after a county newspaper cited a circulating protest petition. He and Jerry Jackson of Starlite Drive In backed a Fair Board vote on the offer in September, per Whitmer’s information.

Formation of GOP Club planned in Newtown meeting

Correction issued in auto accident report

The Courier corrects last week’s notice saying Miss Viola Miller 64 of Amelia was cited for reckless operation. Ethel Weimer Route 2 Milford pleaded guilty and was fined. The paper apologizes for embarrassing Miss Miller, a former missionary to China and Amelia Methodist church Sunday school superintendent.

Milford voters may see a meter ordinance on November ballots after a petition filed with Village Clerk Violet Snell. The effort, led by Councilman Philip L. Milford, follows a prior council attempt and faces opposition from the Chamber of Commerce.

Big Crowd Hears LeFeber On Water System Plan

Engineer LeFeber advised digging wells near Terrace Park and rejected tapping Cincinnati water. The East Fork proposal would take two years and about $100 per tap with 23 cents daily per user. Insurance rates could drop up to 50 percent with implementation. County officials and 700 residents attended, with 1500 signatures needed before work could start. In Batavia California the Clermont County Hospital Committee plans a meeting at the Farm Building tonight. J A Nordman secretary treasurer announced the hospital question has been placed on the November ballot. The group will inform voters and consider Dr A C Bachmeyer's consultant report on clinic size.

Amelia post office receives Washington approval for new mail route extensions to Route 1 and Route 2. Route 1 serves Pharos Road subdivision Dieckmann Lane Lilly Lane Massey Court Nordyke Road Lang Road and Will-O-EE Drive. Route 2 runs to Lucy Run Road and Herbert Hicks residence. Six to Attend 4-H Club Congress in Columbus

Six Clermont County youths Fred Liggett Paul Carlier Barbara Pullen Lor etta Burdsall Wanda Morris Nancy Long will attend the thirty fifth Ohio 4-H Club Congress on the Ohio State University campus. Clermonts 14th Church of Christ Organized

In Amelia Ohio a new Church of Christ was organized last month in Clermont County becoming its fourteenth congregation. Services are held at the school and the group hopes to acquire a building to be used as a meeting place while Bethel claims the first Church of Christ in Clermont.

Auditor Accepts Clermont Hospital Survey for Ballot

Auditor Earle B Kincaid announced Dr A C Bachmeyer presented a 26 page Clermont County Hospital survey to be submitted Friday. Commissioners previously voted unanimously to place the question on the November ballot and passed three resolutions establishing bond issue levy and spending for real estate construction and equipment. Bonds at three percent run December 1 1952 to June 1 1954 with 23 year payments. Levy set at 1.2 mills on real property. Real estate 50000 construction 1035008 equipment 175000.

Stepson Released As Officials Probe Death of Farmer

Carl G. Meyers 31 was jailed for questioning in the mysterious death of his stepfather Hawkins Dean 68. Also questioned were Mrs Dorothy King and her husband Leslie King of Saco Missouri. Prosecutor Ray Bradford and deputy Dale Osborne led the probe with Sheriff Clyde Seentee Nutt.
