Milford Chamber Fall Festival Kicks Off Thursday in Milford
The Milford Chamber of Commerce launches the ninth annual Fall Festival at Riverside Park with a parade at 7 p.m. Thursday, queen crown at 8 p.m., and fireworks at 9:30 p.m. The event runs September 15 to 17 with rides, booths, and a Buick Riviera prize. 4H beef team from Clermont County placed third at the Ohio State Fair.

One Dead Three Hurt In Wrecks On State Route 74
A two car head on collision on State Route 74 near Olive Branch during midnight Wednesday August 31 killed Harry K Newberry Jr 22 of Batavia and badly injured John Milligan 26 of Cincinnati and Miss Dorothy Lous Phelps 19 of Batavia. Milligan died from a fractured skull while Newberry was thrown from his car and pinned under his demolished vehicle. Phelps survived with a broken back and later spinal status clarified. Markie Day 47 of Batavia Pike survived after head injuries from a separate crash on Mt Carmel Anchor Hill Road. Day’s sons pulled their father from the wreck and he was transported by Moore ambulance. State Patrolman H E Voelker investigated.

Fire damages Hill Top Inn roof in Batavia incident
A defective flue caused $500 damage when a roof fire broke out at the Hill Top Inn near Batavia on Monday. Batavia Fire Department led by Chief Jake Laffleur responded. Dr. Stanley Brown has taken over Dr. Frederick Margulies’s practice at Main Street Batavia and also runs an office in Madisonville.

Clermont County Grand Jury Indicts 21 Last Week
The Clermont County Grand Jury returned twenty one indictments and ten dismissals. Indictments include three for criminal attack with defendants held on bonds totaling fifty thousand dollars. Names include Larry Ferrell, Horace Lunsford Jr., Richard Funke and others facing charges from assault to forgery and DUI. Leonard Harding Jr. presided as jury foreman.
