The Hannah family operates Hannah Hardware in Bethel with a 175 acre stock farm side line. Gail Hannah started the store in 1914, Robert E. Hannah joined in 1923 and took over in 1938. Registration For Batavia Schools Opens Next Tuesday
Batavia public schools will open Tuesday September 6 for grades kindergarten through twelve with registration. Superintendent Paul L Hopping announced cafeteria service starts September 7 at last year’s lunch price. A new bus and route 222 Batavia to Stonelick Road will be added. other routes stay similar at first pending possible changes.

History Making All Star Game Set For Monday
Vermont County fans will see the County Independent League top stars at 2 p.m. on Labor Day in the first all star game in county history on the Amelia diamond. Team one from Mt. Carmel Amelia Owensville and Newtonsville faces Salt Air Batavia Felicity Williamsburg led by manager Harry Didday. Proceeds aid ball players injured in this year’s games. Clermont County League Elimination Series games follow Sunday with Amelia versus Owensville at Owensville and Batavia versus Salt Air at Salt Air, both 2:00 p.m.

A five year old Williamsville boy is the latest polio victim. he is at General Hospital Cincinnati as county records lack his identity. Line Foreman Rescues Boy From Live Wires
Lonnie J. Self seven of Epworth Heights Lane Branch Hill was saved from electrocution by Robert Gleason a pole line foreman for the Cincinnati and Suburban Bell Telephone Company. Gleason and his crew reached the scene after a post windstorm incident and lifted the live wires from the child body. Lonnie suffered minor hand and abdomen burns but survived.
