Clermont County Baseball League Weekender Results

The Clermont county league resumed with Owensville beating Batavia Tigers 8-5 and Mt. Crab defeating Garagemen 8-7. Moscow pasted Clermont Eagles 22-2, Perry A. C. beat Locust Ridge 6-1. Francis Garage won 24-10 over Perry A. C. and Mt. Crab overcame Locust Ridge 8-7. Standings show Owensville 1.000, Francis Garage and Mt. Crab 0.800, Perry A. C. 0.750, Locust Ridge and Moscow 0.500. Next Sunday Francis Garage visits Owensville. Mt. Crab at Perry A. C.. Locust Ridge hosts Moscow. Goshen, Chile, Batavia Eagles, Batavia Tigers, and Cincinnati Merchants eliminated. Sunday is St. Andrew’s Milford Homecoming with fried chicken dinner 50 cents, lawn amusements, evening cards, hourly attendance prize, and a Plymouth Tudor Roadking Sedan giveaway.

Bennette Trout of Hamersville Ohio rural carrier No 1 drafted a service emblem for the National Rural Letter Carriers Association. One sketch was approved in New Orleans and manufactured by Gordon B Miller Co Cincinnati. The emblem, after high reception at Washington DC convention, was ordered patented as the official NRLC A emblem.

John R Johnson Celebrates 90th Birthday in Marathon

John R Johnson of Marathon celebrated his 90th birthday on Saturday. He is the last of nine children and spent his life in Clermont county. Johnson was elected county commissioner in 1899 and served two terms. A lifelong Democrat, he remains active in national state and county politics and may reach his 100th milestone.

Burtons Admit Home Burglary In Batavia Jail Bond

Lonnie Burton 28 formerly of Somerset Kentucky and Clifford Burton both of Cincinnati Ohio admit robbing Joe Nobis of canned goods and other articles about four months ago. They were captured in Cincinnati and brought to Batavia by Sheriff Auxier and Deputy Frank Perry of New Richmond.

Bond Issue Planned for Branch Hill Rural School

Duly qualified electors in Branch Hill rural school district may approve a 20000 bond issue for a fire proof gymnasium auditorium and upgrades to heating ventilation and sanitation in both buildings. Papers filed with the county board of elections set September 30 as the election date. Bonds run up to 25 years with an estimated outside 10 mill tax rate of 2.4 mills.

Hayden Announces Letting of Project 146 Contract

State Representative John Hayden disclosed from Columbus that the contract for Project 146 on State Highway No. 125 from Amelia to the Hamilton County line was awarded to Scully Bros. of Cincinnati for 66 822.50. The bid was 428.50 under the engineer’s estimate for 5489 miles of asphaltic concrete and surface treatment with widening to 20 feet and roadway to 26 feet. Completion is set for November 15.

State Republican Platform Convention Dates at Columbus

Highway Department Leases Site for Tourist Park at Swings Corner

The State Highway Department leased land two miles west of Bethel on No 125 from Raymond Swing for a Tourist Park. A similar project is finished in Brown County east of Hamersville. Easements were signed last weekend and work will begin at once.

The Goshen Homecoming on Labor Day attracted a large crowd. Speakers included County Supt. Hogatt Representative John Hayden and Mr. Elston of Blanchester. The event closed with a ball game between Goshen and the Ft. Thomas Soldiers.

Clermont County Schools Open Amid Big Turnout and Upgrades

Clermont county students returned to classes with Batavia and Goshen unique start dates and new facilities under construction. Goshen plans occupancy by September 19 while Amelia reports record attendance. Booster efforts include free books countywide and several building projects at Williamsburg, Goshen, Edenton, Newtonsville and Mt. Carmel.
