A public landslide in support for his widow and child led commissioners John W Lowe and John Swing to resign their posts and back Mrs. Harriett Mofford for the job. Farmer in Pierce township shoots former hand in self defense
Harley Turner a Pierce township farmer shot and killed Jobo Moore after warning him to stay away. Two bullets struck Moore and Turner surrendered to the sheriff, was held for murder after a hearing, waived examination, and bound over to the grand jury in $5000. No eyewitnesses exist and Kentucky men sought Turner’s release. case to be presented in October.

Soldier Boy Hurt in Camp Dennison Road Crash
Edward Sloan aged 19 son of William Sloan of Milford piloted an automobile on Camp Dennison road near Shawnee Run when steering failed and the car went over a fifteen foot embankment. Sloan was pinned beneath the vehicle and suffered multiple bruises and gashes to his arms and legs. Dr. A Christo er treated him and he was later taken to a home in Plainville. Sloan was a member of the old Flist Regiment and the youngest in the 147th infantry overseas. Mdith and Barab Dustin returned to Dayton after two weeks with their aunt Mrs. Ora Lukemire.
