An Ohio investigation into the State prison farm at London finds the project would cost taxpayers 28.5 million dollars under ornate plans, down from eight million estimated years ago. Hon James N Kehoe ex congressman and Bank of Myrnville president will address Adams County tobacco farmers on the Co operative Marketing Plan on the West Union courthouse lawn September 8 at 7 30. A Batavia township report details four farm visits last Friday night with thefts of about 600 fowls worth roughly $700 across Mt. The Felicity Teachers Institute drew a large, attentive crowd with sessions and speakers earning high praise. Attendance ran strong, and a Friday exam drew 82 applicants. four days earned teachers $10 for expenses from their school boards.

Ohio orchardists trial night dust spraying at the Sehmitkens’ 40 acre Lorain county orchard. A large blower mounted on a truck releases Boray powder into tree foliage during seven hours of spraying. Officials note dusting controls codling moth as well as liquid spray but is not yet fully proven.

Burglars entered Rosenzweig's department store in Milford by prying open a rear window early Friday. Merchandise and cash totaling 20 dollars were taken, with dress shirts and other items scattered across the floor.

Poultry Culling Shows Higher Slacker Hen Rate in Clermont

In Clermont county during a summer drive to remove non laying hens 28 percent of 8356 birds examined were sentenced to death. The Ohio State University College of Agriculture reports 34 demonstrations with 861 attendees and a potential saving of 80 cents per loafing hen among 930 culled in the county.

Tomatoes Scarce in Poor Quality Harvest

The tomato crop in this section is very poor with fruit cracking open exposing flesh and seeds, leading to fermentation and unfit for canning. No reason for the cracking is known and little canning has been done here with prospects poor.

The August 14 law require autos to file bills of sale and certificates of ownership with the clerk. Certificates far exceed bills of sale with 169 certificates versus four bills. The note urges owners to complete filings before the October term to avoid prosecution and free court time.

Company I 147th Inf Returns Home to Williamsburg

The 147th Infantry Company I arrives August 21 in Williamsburg after training at Camp Perry. The unit, among the youngest, won the prize as best and also twice claimed the daily $10 prize for best company street. Ninety four percent qualified as marksmen and sharpshooters. Mustered March 12, 1921, the soldiers are praised by Capt. J. W. Smith for their own efforts.

In Adams county court last week three women served on the jury with one chosen foreman. Within half an hour of retiring to the jury room they returned a guilty verdict. The work is new to them but they master it quickly and render just verdicts.

State aid funds for Georgetown to Russellville road

Brown county commissioners report word from the State Highway Department that 18000 dollars has been appropriated for improving the state road section between Georgetown and Russellville. The contract may be let this fall. State pikes are costly at first but reliable.

Correction on Swing line iron purchase price

In a recent commissioner's report the county commissioners were misstated as buying several irons off the Swing line at 854 dollars per ton. The correct price is 8.50 dollars per ton.
