Crazed by whiskey man kills best friend on Labor Day camp
At a pike construction camp west of Batavia contractor workers on the Batavia to Olive Branch project say C F Wilson of North Carolina shot Walter Curliss, killing him. Wilson, described as crazed with drink, fired after upsetting a stove and flourished a revolver in the dining tent. Curliss, son of the late Marion Curliss, died at once. a coroner’s inquest was held and Wilson was jailed, likely facing manslaughter charges. Both men were under 23.

Fatal Train Collision At Sharonville Crossing
Alfreda Cline of Perintown and John Iven with brother William were struck by an express train at Sharonville Crossing near Cincinnati as they crossed the Big Four tracks after a Labor Day visit to the Speedway. Miss Cline died soon after and the Iven brothers died hours later. a gasoline tank exploded adding to the horror. Funeral services followed for Cline and the Iuen brothers.

Oil Tank Tumbles After Slippery Road Incident
Last Saturday a Milford oil truck en route to Batavia slid on a slick embankment near Perintown. The rear end tipped over the bank and the front end pulled free as the driver and helper escaped with minor injuries. The truck and tank were damaged and a gasoline shortage followed Saturday afternoon until Mr. Curry of Amelia supplied a full tank Sunday morning.

The official board of the M E church purchased the late Judge Breeding's home for 4250 dollars to serve as a parsonage. The old parsonage will be sold after required legal transfer steps.
