Ohio State Fair sees world record in heavy weight horse pull
Art Kieh of Bradford won the heavy weight horse pulling contest at the Ohio State Fair on Wednesday. His team pulled 4,025 pounds on the device, equivalent to 261 2/3 tons over 80 feet, breaking the former record of 261 2/3 feet.

Ohio State Journal voting-machine poll surveyed visitors at the Ohio State Fair over seven days. Willkie won 11,695 of 17,671 presidential votes for 66.2 percent while Roosevelt had 5,976. Bricker led gubernatorial votes with 11,540 of 17,449 (66.13 percent) against Davey’s 5,909. The paper notes possible duplicate votes and that voter origin by party was not tracked.

Two Batavians Injured in Saturday Auto Crash
Two Batavia men James Gregg 28 and Dave Gallagher Jr 27 were seriously injured in a head on collision on Route 182 two miles south of Hamlet about 2 30 Saturday morning. Gregg suffered deep facial wounds and tooth loss while Gallagher had head cuts and chest bruises. They were taken to Christ Hospital after initial care by Dr F B Skeen.
