The Post Office Department starts nationwide alien registration from August 27 to December 26, 1940, for all residents age 14 and up. Fingerprinting and confidential records are required, with penalties up to 1000 dollars or six months imprisonment for noncompliance. Batavia Post Office hours are 9:00–10:30 AM and 3:00–4:30 PM, serving Clermont County's roughly 400 aliens.

The Miller Bauer Families annual reunion was held Sunday August 26 at Chas Bauer’s country home near Williamsburg. About eighty people from near and far joined a noon feast and social games on the lawn, with hopes to meet again next year. New Richland Man Held After Fracas in Cafe

About 72 thousand dollars has been collected to date for the semi annual real estate tax for the last half of 1939. County Treasurer John Frie Jr says total will reach roughly 166 thousand. Clermont farmers receive limestone under AAA 1940 program
Carney Roush states Clermont County farmers have taken 20 tons of limestone and 5 tons of superphosphate as aid under the 1940 AAA Farm Program. Army seeks young men for extended Flying Cadet training
Army Recruiting Officer Lt Col Cureton calls for unmarried men aged 20 to 27 with two years of college or pass a written exam to enroll in a nine month Flying Cadet course. Cadets receive $75 monthly, housing, uniforms, medical care, meals, and transport, then are commissioned as Second Lieutenants in the Army Air Corps Reserve with pay up to $265.50 during extended flying duty. Batavia Woman in Serious Condition After Assault
Mrs. William Keen a 61 year old Batavia resident remained in Christ Hospital with a nose fracture and severe facial injuries after Ambrose Johnson 22 attacked her early Sunday morning in her Wood street home. Johnson a WPA worker was arrested and bound over to the Grand Jury under $2000 bond after waiving exam. Mrs Keen who has prior face injuries from a years old automobile crash is slowly recovering with her two daughters Lucy and Sally at her side.
