Fire consumes three hay stacks near Shiloh camp

Harvest Home festival honors Nathan Anderson retiree
The tenth annual Harvest Home festival of Anderson, Columbia and Spencer townships in Hamilton county and Union and Pierce in Clermont county was held at Shinn's Grove on the 23d ultimo. A large crowd attended with exhibits of fruit, vegetables, grain, crafts, and livestock. A retirement event for Nathan Anderson included a gold headed ebony cane presented in Batavia with speeches and thanks from local officials.

Amelia ball club reinforced by Clermont county champion pitcher lost 10 to 5 in the last half of the ninth at Georgetown. Batavia and Bethel played a high scoring game on Bethel grounds with heavy hitting and several big hits. Fayetteville claimed championship of Brown County and played Afton for county titles. Pastor Wilber G Warner Departs New Richmond for Europe
Rev. Wilber G. Warner, pastor at New Richmond for two years, received 40 new members to reach 200 since he began. He baptized 13 by immersion at the wharf, witnessed by about 1600. Ordinance for Paid Wilmington Fire Department First Reading
Clinton County Democrat reports a council first reading of an ordinance to establish a paid Wilmington fire department. About twenty five men will be kept on the rolls and drilled regularly, with fines for absence and restrictions on leaving town.
