Clermont County Reports Eight Polio Cases
Eight polio cases were reported to the Clermont County Board of Health as of Wednesday. Dr. F. M. Oxley says this is not an epidemic but warns parents to limit exposure and crowded places. Names include Richard Carr, Linda Gontermann, Jack and Joyce Gordon, Arthur Gordon, Melvin Hefner, Wesley Royce, Barry Farmer, Edward Egner, Priscilla Shrope, Patricia Bailey, and Richard Funke. A Loveland man was jailed on a $10,000 bond for alleged rape of a 14 year old, with preliminary hearings set. An 4-H advisory group recommended Joyce B. Brown as home demonstration agent for Clermont County, pending OSU board approval.

Hayden Named To Survey Unit
Rep John Hayden of Clermont County was named to a county and state tasked committee by Speaker Roger Cloud. The panel will survey possible dam construction on Ohio streams to impound water and study the Conservancy Act to aid water supply distribution.

Judge Haussermann Named Life Trustee of OWU
Judge John W. Haussermann, longtime Cincinnati financier and Manila official, elected life trustee by Ohio Wesleyan University. Truck Fire at Batavia Involving Portsmouth Supply Unit
A trailer truck owned by Portsmouth Home Supply Company and driven by Harry Worstell of Portsmouth caught fire at Main and Market in Batavia. Firefighters put out the blaze believed caused by a fuel line leak. Worstell was en route to Cincinnati to pick up furniture.

Jury To Convene On August 30 In Clermont County
The Clermont County Grand Jury will convene August 30, Common Pleas Judge Harry Brittom announced. Prosecuting Attorney Ray Bradford is preparing the investigation list. Jurors will stay in session as long as needed to dispose of the cases.
