Ohio Tax Commission orders 60 percent real estate appraisal rise

A 1926 Ohio Tax Commission order directs Clermont County to raise appraisals for most townships and municipalities. Milford and Bethel were deemed valued correctly. others must be increased by listed percentages to place property on the duplicate at true value. A note explains that a $1000 property would become $1500 after a 60 percent rise for tax payment.

Injunction Dissolved Against Victor Nobis

The injunction suit against Victor Nobis of New Richmond brought by the C G P railroad for carrying patrons alleged to belong to said company on the detour to Hamlet was dissolved Tuesday morning before Judge White for lack of evidence.

Williamsburg Fire prompts institute note and county teachers list

The Clermont County Teachers Institute held in Williamsburg drew 130 attendees with praise for Lupts Phillips and Fichter and talks by county officials and health staff. The event ended with plans for a future session at New Richmond and elections for next year. The Williamsburg home of Mrs Anna Dennis burned from a faulty flue as Williamsburg councils consider a chemical fire engine.

Wedding Bells For Ragland And Keeler In Milford

Lawrence J. Ragland and Margaret L. Keeler were married at the bride’s home on August 26 in Milford. Rev. W. A. Deaton officiated with a double ring ceremony as Lohengrin’s wedding march played. The couple will honeymoon at Niagara Falls and reside in a bungalow at Lewisburg, Ohio.

Stone road work back on track for Felicity Bethel way

Equipment has arrived to spread the final course of stone on the Felicity Bethel highway. Months after the first course, parts require tarvia treatment again. Shipments will begin soon and work will resume when weather allows to finish the project.

The county teachers examination occurred last Friday at the Batavia school building the final session of the year. Thirty five applicants faced the board including a number of first year teachers.

Clermont County Bills and Appropriations Reported

The Clermont County Commissioners met August 23 in regular session and approved numerous bills and appropriations for road work and other items. Entries include payments to Binkley Ballinger Brower Courier Coburns and many suppliers and laborers plus repairs to bridges culverts and roads and a boiler contract for The Casey Hedges Co. for the county jail and courthouse projects.

Clermont 4-H Club Exhibits Highlight Fair Results

Twenty two 4-H clubs across clothing food poultry and livestock completed summer projects at the fair. About 215 members worked, with 190 new to the program, and counties winners named in clothing and food. A parade closed the event, and six members head to the State Fair for individual and team honors. Labor Day events in Batavia promote continued club activities.

Hunts Trouble Involved Check Fraud Case

R 8 Adams of Batavia is in custody after issuing a fictitious name on a $37.50 check. John Bereiaza of Glen Este lost the checks to Standard Oil. Checks drawn on the Brotherhood of Railway Clerks National Bank in Cincinnati. Mayor Larkin issued the warrant, Marshal Krantz arrested Adams in Cincinnati. Adams pled guilty and was bound over to the grand jury for $500. He is married with two children.
