Thieves bypass alarm at Furrow Building and Supply
Thieves entered the Furrow Building and Supply Store at 609 Ohio Pike on October 27 by bypassing an alarm system. A safe was forced open and an undisclosed amount of cash was stolen. Tools aided entry to the safe. store closed October 28 as investigators searched for clues. Clermont County auditors report $581,861.46 in permissive sales tax payments, with a two month lag for distribution.

Gourds: harvest, cure, and finish guidance
Hard-shelled gourds should be harvested as stems dry or leaves fade. Wash in soapy water, dry, and sort. Cure on newspaper in well ventilated 70 to 80 degree conditions for one to six months. Drill a small hole to speed drying. cure ends when seeds rattle. Prepare for utensils in late drying. Avoid cracking by not letting fully dry gourds shatter. Wax or shellac alter finish. prefer furniture wax for natural look. Smooth with fine steel wool, wipe with alcohol, and rewax periodically to preserve the fruit.
Cemetery owners sue over sewer assessment method
Crown Hill Graceland Cemetery Associates filed a Clermont County suit October 21 against the county commissioners auditor and treasurer alleging illegal front foot based sewer assessments totaling 9800 for the O Bannon Creek Regional project. The owners claim the two cemetery tracts gain no benefits from the construction and seek reassessment on a special benefit basis plus injunctions and damages.
