In Clermont County Union Township two trustee races ended unexpectedly as Linda Wuerdeman lost to Richard Martin with 2,917 votes while Dennis Cook trailed with 2,263. E Andy Hill tallied 783. Goshen saw Sue Ventura return as trustee. Philpot won a seat over James Allen. Former officials Carlier and Smith also surfaced in results.

Voters Turnout Low in Clermont County Election

In Clermont County only 46.5 percent of 61 registered voters turned out with 28 519 ballots cast by election day or absentee. The vote proceeded smoothly with final tally at 11 15 pm. Vandalism forced relocation of a township polling place while a few candidates faced tight poll proximity. Statewide is amending a national bond issue.

CNE levy defeat prompts board to reconsider funding

Nor theastern school voters rejected the 6.81 mill operating levy 1422-937 or 60.2 to 39.7 percent. Superintendent Budd Hegele says the defeat may lead to a February special election or May primary and possible program cuts. He notes staff salaries comprise 80 percent of the budget and suggests cutting gifted, drug awareness, music and guidance programs.

Union voters approve 2-mill police levy in Union Township

Union Township voters approved a 2 mill increase to fund police services, with 59.9 percent in favor and 1,746 opposed.
