Truck Rolls Over Steep Hill Fatal Crash Near Owensville

A 60-year-old Loveland woman, Prank Carpenter, died when her husband’s truck rolled off an embankment on Ohio 132 while being followed by an Owensville fire engine en route to a grass fire. Carpenter’s sister Callie Pence, 74, was hospitalized with injuries. the driver had minor injuries. Dr. Allen Rapp said Carpenter died soon after the arrival at the scene. In a separate note, Ronnie Smith, 13, from Leyhel, died of polio at General Hospital Cincinnati after being admitted weeks earlier.

Two Doctors Probe Fund Source For Hospital Bulletin

In New Richmond Ohio two Clermont County doctors question the funds behind a hospital levy bulletin. Drs Charles Kramer and Marguerite Coutcher ask Dr J M Coleman for the purpose origin and cost of the society issued no vote bulletin and who paid for it. The inquiry follows a letter alleging misattribution to the Clermont Biological Society.

Absentee Ballot Requests Rise in Clermont County

Clermont County Board of Elections mailed over 700 absentee ballots, up 453 from the previous General election. Civilians routed 332 ballots and 168 from military personnel by late Monday, with a deadline of October 30 for applications. Voters may apply and vote in person to avoid mail delays, and ballots must be returned by noon Friday, with military ballots due by noon Election Day.

Jerry Hyles Named To Amelia Council By 4 to 1 Ballot

Jerry Hyles of South Kline Street was appointed to the Amelia Council by a four to one vote at a special meeting. Hyles, an employee of CG and E’s Walter J. Beckford plant in New Richmond, fills the seat left vacant by illness after William Hartman’s resignation. Harold Adams was also a nominee. Hartman’s son William declined due to business expansion and opening another drug store in Withamsville.

Two Write-In Candidates for County Commissioner Post

In Batavia Ohio two write-in candidates seek the county commissioner term. Albert S. Colby of Milford runs on the GOP ticket after finishing fifth with 610 votes in the May Primary. Charles A. Colonel of New Richmond seeks the Democratic line for the December 31 term. Ernest B. Ruffner, Williamsburg, holds the current post and must win more write-ins than the others to retain the short term. Other nominees include John Houser, Fred J. Croswell, and Charles P. Clark. Colonel is an ex Marine who runs a New Richland cafe and is active in sports and veterans groups.

BATAVIA, O. John 8. Woods, radio dispatcher in the office of Sheriff Clyde B Dericks, has submitted his resignation. It will become effective November 1, 1952. Woods states health, personal and business interests necessitate his release.
