Robert Dorsey owner of the Thrift R Market and Ba tavia vice mayor spoke to Milford Citizens' Committee for Progress in the Town Hall for a second time. He said he has no interest in parking meter firms and whether Milford installs meters, merely reporting Batavia's meter experience. Councilman Elmer A. Kramer accompanied him. Milford Man Held After Death of Kenwood Resident

Stewart C Rhoads 35 of Milford was arrested after a Kenwood man died from a skull fracture following an incident at a Sycamore township tavern. John H Ziegler 37 of Kenwood identi fied Rhoads as his attacker and died Sunday at Jewish Hospital.

Trade Hit as Village Sign Sparks Dispute in Batavia

William Genter, Batavia service station operator, claims a political sign backing Sheriff Clyde B. Dericks cost him village business. He says Police Chief Ed Colonel warned against bringing the police car to his station, and Mayor J F Paschal said signs are not allowed in the village. Colonel calls the claim a publicity tactic. Four Clermont County American Legion Posts Batavia Milford Loveland and Williamsburg plan Legion for Polio Nights socials to aid the local polio chapter. Events run Loveland October 28 Batavia November 12 Williamsburg November 20 and Milford December 4 at post homes. Proceeds augment regular donations to assist rising polio cases in the county.

O J H Fley, a 20 year Norwood teacher, is appointed Milford superintendent effective November 1 succeeding Roy E. Holmes who resigned last week to lead Wilmington. Fley resides at 227 Laurel Avenue Milford and has served as Milford Board of Education president. he holds a BA from Ohio State University and a master's in school administration. He taught as a principal in a Butler County school and is an instructor at Wyoming University.

Negro GOP Rally Set for Monday with 2 Speakers

In Imond Ohio Mont County a Negro Republican rally is planned for Monday at the Interdenominational church on Quarry and Market Streets. Featured speakers will be Mrs. Ilan Turpeau widow of the late Rev. David T. Turpeau and her son Michael, a Cincinnati attorney. Mrs Turpeau was named Mother of the Year by Afro American papers in 1947 and received a 1943 plaque for work in the Negro community. Michael Turpeau is a World War I and Korea veteran and graduate of West Virginia State College and UC College of Law.

Former Amelia Soldier Killed in Korean War

Pfc June H Fiscus 23, son of Mr and Mrs Edgar H Fiscus formerly of Amelia, was killed in action in Korea on October 13. He had served in the Army over a year as a combat construction specialist with the Seventh Division since April 1952. Survived by his widow Mrs Margaret E Fiscus, his parents, one brother and three sisters. The family now lives at Blanchester.

Bike Race Funds Given to Youth Stricken by Polio

Thirteen year old Ronnie Smith of Bethel, polio patient at Cincinnati General Hospital, received a full fund raised by Bethel Boy Scouts and the Ground Observers Corps. The Oct 11 bicycle marathon aimed to buy uniforms for a civil defense unit and raised 82.50 before Ronnie fell ill six days later. The fund was given to Ronnie’s grandparents to cover expenses. an auction at Grant Memorial Building will raise more. Mrs. and Mr. Thomas Popp of Batavia also suffered polio last week and are hospitalized.

Dinner Yields 1365 For Clermont County Child Welfare

A Monday buffet at the Copper Stallion in Batavia raised 1 356 for the Clermont County Child Welfare Board Christmas gifts. Harry A Kahle MC'd the program, Russell G England led the raffle, with Lions Rotary Kiwanis clubs and C L Jackson sponsors. Clubs will form a county-wide service organization chaired by Arthur Daughters of Milford Kiwanis to unify efforts.
