Clermont County Votes Tie With Nation in Unofficial Returns

Nearly 23 000 voters cast ballots in Clermont County as Dwight Eisenhower led Stevenson 13 106 to 9 707. Incumbents mostly reelected. John Houser defeated for commissioner by Fred Croswell. Hospital levy failed 11 625 to 6 587. constitutional convention vote 11 381 against and 5 008 for. Local races include Polk vs Blackburn for Sixth District, Hayden re elected to General Assembly, Wetzel ahead for State Senator, and Dr. F. S. Skeen reelected coroner. counts show Croswell and Ruffner leading in commissioner races with other county posts shown in unofficial tallies.

Amelia Seeks Bids for 10000 Dollar Municipal Bonds

Amelia Ohio invites sealed proposals by noon November 28 1952 for 1000 dollar bonds to fund a municipal building bearing four percent interest payable June 1 1953 with semi annual payments thereafter maturing December 1 from 1954 through 1963. Proceeds fund a permanent village hall for council and officials.

Bread Salesman's Heroism Cited for Saving Baby

Milford O P A report credits Joseph Bamber a 31 year old Rubel Baking Company driver with saving a 27 month old girl from a moving passenger train at Hamilton Ohio on September 7 1951 and rescues a woman before pulling the child to safety This marks his second Carnegie Hero Fund Award and the first Nick O Time Award for an Ohioan The incident happened while he waited for a train to pass on his regular route and two women plus two girls attempted crossing the tracks Suzanne M Ulreich survived after Bamber pulled her from between the wheels.

Batavia Nurse Sues Company for 5174 Damages

Ada C. Hoffman of Batavia filed suit in Cincinnati against Dugan Construction Company seeking 5174.40 damages. She says a company truck driven by a company employee struck her car on Route 74 east of Newtown on August 22, causing injuries that kept her from work as a supervising nurse for three months.

Goshen Youth Wounded in Korea Service

The family of Hays Vanlandingham Jr of Goshen has been notified he recently received leg wounds while fighting in Korea. A Goshen high school graduate he entered the service September 19 1951.

Civic Clubs Push Water Contract Signatures in Area Drive

Up per Clough and South Union Civic Clubs continue efforts to have residents sign contracts for the Union Pierce Batavia water system. A letter to area churches urged ministers to inform congregations of benefits including insurance relief and improved fire protection. Also noted were contract signing sites at Merwin Road Con Ison's Barber Shop Williamsville and Mt. Carmel Route 14. Popular broom maker undergoes surgery in Cincinnati

In Mt Carmel Ohio Ted a well known blind broom manufacturer who has hosted hundreds of county fair visitors each year had surgery Monday at St Mary's Hospital in Cincinnati. Surgeon was Dr John Crone of Milford and attending physician Dr Mary Hippert Williamsburg. He is expected to return home in six days.

40 Year Man Henry Haase Sets 40 Years Service Mark

Henry Haase of Ohio Pike Hamlet will complete 40 years with the Cincinnati and Suburban Bell Telephone Company on November 19. He rose from night chief operator at Woodburn in 1913 to service inspector, assistant traffic manager and engineer, and since February 1939 has been district traffic supervisor. Haase, a Kilgour Chapter member of Telephone Pioneers of America, has served on many committees in the organization.
