Mt. Olive Man Takes Life
Olen Hutchson aged 42 of Mt. Olive shot himself with a 20 gauge shotgun in his kitchen Tuesday evening. His wife Edna and two sons Bob and Jack survive. Sheriff Clyde Dericks and County Coroner Allan Rapp investigated, with despondency given as the reason. The Hutchsons and the two sons worked at a Williamsburg foundry.

Ridgeway Fined After Batavia Area Accident
In Batavia outskirts on Route 222 Tuesday afternoon Clinton Ridgeway collided with Helen Lumpmann's car. Ridgeway faced a driving while intoxicated charge, fined 50 dollars plus costs, and a 30 day jail sentence deferred if he stays out of Batavia for a year. A day of prayer was set for Taylor Church Friday October 31 from 3 to 6 pm.

Arraignment set for Nov. 3 for 18 indicted individuals from October Grand Jury session. During four days, 28 cases heard, 80 witnesses examined, 10 ignored. indictments include assault and battery, non support, auto stealing, cutting with intent to kill, grand larceny, malicious destruction of property, rape, and taking mortgaged property out of state.

Firefighters Contain 22 Acre Grass Fire in Locust Lake Area
In Cler mont County a Beatrice Frank farm blaze swept about 22 acres last Thursday. About 60 volunteers helped stop the fire where no buildings were at risk, though large amounts of valuable organic matter were destroyed. Firefighters from Amelia and Williamsville aided with shovels and wet sacks as bark and trunks can suffer, inviting disease and decay later.
