Second Blood Collection For Nancy Hake

The University of Cincinnati mobile blood unit returns to Day Heights Fire Department today from 2 to 8 pm to aid 13 year old Nancy Hake of Deerfield Road. Nancy, burned over half her body in a home explosion on Sept 30, remains in critical condition at Shriner’s Burns Institute Cincinnati and has had five operations with more planned.

Apartment Project Gets Planners OK

The Clermont County Planning Commission backs two zoning classifications for an 18 acre Batavia Township tract at the northeast corner of SR 132 and the Appalachian Highway. Dr. Stanley I Rafale, Batavia optometrist, seeks a change from agriculture to business citing land topography. Flood-prone bottom land and a wooded hillside are noted.

Trustees Oppose Private Landfill in Jackson Township

The Clermont County Trustees and Clerks Association disapproved a privately owned landfill on Aber Road in Jackson Township at its Oct. 21 meeting. Trustee Richard Winder moved, seconded by Ernest Stroub, to oppose the site and have the county commissioners buy land for a public landfill. Trustee Frank Palmer noted a 300-signature petition and cited drainage concerns and the risk to Pleasant Run Creek.

The New Richmond Life Squad faced three fatal heart attack calls on Saturday, all women. Victims were Mrs. Mabelle Carnes, 71, of 603 Carnes Rd. Mrs. Katherine Nelson, 45, of 410 Center St. and Mrs. Mary Snedegar, of 220 Augusta St.

Township Chief Urges Police Levy Renewal

Police Chief Paul Herrmann urges voter approval of a 50 cent per 1000 renewal plus an same amount for continued operation of Union Township police facilities. Since inception five years ago the department grew from one officer to four full time, plus four part time, with three cruisers and ongoing deficits funded by transfers from the road fund.
