Legionnaires Stage Parade and Installation Draw Crowds

Milford Felicity Williamsburg Bethel New Richmond Loveland Batavia saw a large Legion event as Leland Barnett Post and Madisonville Drum and Bugle Corps led a parade from the Court House to the Armory for the annual installation of officers. District Commander Young and County Commander H. M. Wymer officiated with the Chambers Hauptmann Drill Team handling colors. Attendance was about 500 as state officials and county posts gathered for the dance afterward.

Auto Accidents Reported on State Route 74 Near Batavia

Byron Barbeau of Batavia was struck by another driver on State Route 74 below Batavia while returning home. His car wrecked and he sustained painful bruises. the other driver fled the scene. Richard Davis of Williamsburg fell asleep at the wheel on State Route 74 near Glen Este, his car left the road and wrecked with minor injuries reported.

State funds received by Blythe Jones auditor

County auditor Blythe Jones received Saturday morning funds held for the State of Ohio. August distribution 1262.70 and September distribution 1682.69, totaling 2795.89, now deposited in the county treasury.

Clermont County Sends Delegation to State Parent Teachers Meeting

Clermont County was well represented at a Cleveland state convention of parents and teachers. Attendees included Mrs. William Moore and four others from Batavia Mt. Carmel Tabasco Goshen and Clermont County Council. Mt. Carmel Association won county awards for publicity with a general Parent-Teacher news award and a Gold Seal certificate for outstanding newspaper publicity.

Seventh Degree Grange Holds Annual Meeting in Batavia

Sixty plus members attended the Batavia U B church gathering on October 28 as the Seventh Degree Grange held its annual meeting. Officers were elected and longtime members spoke on Grange meaning and social value. Next meeting near this date next year, with Felicity Grange set to dedicate a new home on October 30.

4 H Clubs to Broadcast on National Farm and Home Hour

The 4-H clubs of Clermont Hamilton Warren and Butler counties will air on Station WLW during the National Farm and Home Hour on Saturday November 6 from 12 45 to 1 15 pm. Clermont county will provide 61 minutes. Owensville advisor Joseph Evans and his daughter Mary Evans will present a four minute dialogue on 4-H club social life. Bernard Hutchinson of Williamsburg will discuss calf club work in four minutes. The program is part of the national 4-H achievement broadcast by NBC.

W W Snider Wins Clermont County Shock Corn Husk Contest

About 250 spectators attended the Clermont county shock corn husking event held last Saturday. W W Snider of Batavia won the men’s contest with 676 lbs husked after deductions, narrowly beating Eugene Tissander of Lorado who had 664.6 lbs. Mrs Emma Bauer of Batavia won the women’s contest with 206 lbs, Florence Campbell of Marathon placed second with 19 lbs.

Mrs. Lucie Cranston dies after fall at New Richmond

Lucie Parker Cranston 80 wife of the late Bishop Earl Cranston died at Christ Hospital after injuries from a fall at her home near New Richmond. Born in Cincinnati she taught at Ohio Wesleyan Female Institute Chickering Institute and Washington. Red Cross Expands First Aid Training Across The Nation

Roy McKibben Dies Of Broken Neck

Roy McKibben 52, farmer near Bethel, died at 11 00 a m Monday after falling from a hay mow while helping shuck corn at the William Milner farm in Wiggensville. Coroner and Dr. C C Davison said death came from a broken neck. He leaves a wife Iona and two children Harold 30 and Louise 19. Funeral Thursday at the Christian Church with Kennedy Funeral Home in charge. Interment Clover Cemetery.

Batavia Boy Breaks Leg in Friday Game

Charles Remley age 13 of Batavia High School fractured his right leg while playing in a game Friday. He received medical care and was listed in stable condition.
