Milford Marshal J L Pierson facing charges of assault was arraigned before Judge White. The judge overruled the motion for a new trial and fined Pierson $26 with costs bringing the total to $120.

Bennett Behymer Golden Anniversary Celebration

Mr and Mrs Bennett Behymer of Locust Corner celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on Tuesday October 12. They held an all day open house with all four children ten grandchildren and one great grandchild in attendance. More than fifty visitors stopped in to congratulate them.

Clermont County Commission approves bills and road estimates

The Clermont County commissioners meeting in Batavia October 18 1937 approved numerous bills and authorized auditor warrants. They reviewed engineer estimates for several road projects including McKeever Road East Fork Creek Charity Street South Milford Road Clough Pike Lindale Laurel Road and Lindale Laurel Road extensions with total project costs ranging from about 36 to 266 dollars and decided to continue by force account on the listed works.

Symphony Offers S Rachmaninoff With Cincinnati Orchestra

Sergei Rachmaninoff will be soloist with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra at Music Hall on October 29 and 30. He plays Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 1 and his Rapsodie for Piano and Orchestra, with Handel, Prokofieff, and Strauss works on the program, conducted by Eugene Goossens. Stage Set For Husking Bee in Clermont County

Clermont Sun reports final plans for the county corn husking contest at Harry Haskell farm near Batavia and a nearby Eckart farm on Saturday starting at 1:00 p.m. Four contests include ladies 30 minute, vocational boys 60 minute, men’s 80 minute shock, and men’s 80 minute standing with prizes from local papers and Farm Bureau.

Fifty Bands Attend City Festival In Cincinnati

About fifty high school and institutional bands within 150 miles of Cincinnati took part in the High School Band Festival at Music Hall. Attending bands included the Williamsburg Georgetown Ripley Blanchester and Loveland bands. The event, sponsored by the Cuvier Press Club, followed two Marine Band concerts and drew roughly 2,500 young musicians. festival leaders included Henry Fillmore George Fries and Louis A. Ripley.

Pomona Grange elects 2-year officers at Amelia school

At the Pomona Grange session held October 16 at Amelia school auditorium officers for the next two years were elected. New posts include master Mark Atchley and secretary Alice Boyce. The group urged attendance for Cincinnati December 14 to 16 for the State Grange meeting and voiced opposition to a bond issue.

Dance Plans Completed for Legion Event in Batavia

The American Legion Post in Batavia rushes plans for a Friday night drill and dance at the Armory. The Robert Barnett Drum Corps of Norwood leads with an 8:00 p.m. drill and musical, followed by installation of Legion and Auxiliary officers and a free dance with music by State Treasurer Kinsley and State Auditor Ferguson.
