Goshen Tops County Enrollment in October Figures

Roy Thompson, county superintendent, announced countywide October early-week enrollment averaged 11,827 for calculating the state foundation program. Goshen led with 1,476 students, followed by Bethel 1,463 Amelia 1,396 Clermont-Northeastern 1,393 Williamsburg 1,130 Batavia 975 and Glen Este 915.

Clermont County Jury Indicts 21 in Three Day Session

The Clermont County grand jury reported to Judge Harry Britton after a three day session that it examined 40 witnesses, returned 42 true bills against 21 persons, and ignored five cases. Indictments include second degree manslaughter charges against Charles A. Good and Lester Harrison for fatal crashes, plus multiple counts in other cases such as breaking and entering, forgery, issuing bad checks, and various offenses.

County Teachers Hear Author Willis Snow Ethridge

Willis Snow Ethridge humorist and author will co speak with Nila Magidoff at the Southwestern Ohio Teachers Association meeting on October 26 at the Scottish Rite Auditorium Cincinnati Clermont Adams Brown Butler Clinton Hamilton Highland Preble and Warren counties will close all schools Friday for teachers to attend about 6 500 teachers expected. Ethridge wrote It's Greek to Me and Going to Jerusalem with notes from UN Balkans and Middle East commissions.

At Batavia High School the Clermont County 4 H Club Achievement meeting honored members for outstanding 4 H projects. Elaine Matthis from Williamsburg and Dennis Spaulding of Goshen received multiple awards including the Kroger trophy and garden ing medals. Elaine earned the Danforth certificate and was named Outstanding 4-H Club Girl.

Rotary Halloween Party Transforms Batavia Streets

Batavia Rotary Club hosts its annual Halloween night on October 31 at 7 p.m. starting with a parade led by the school band from the Armory to Main Street and the school auditorium. Prizes for costumes across ages, treats for all in costume, a comic cartoon movie, and a window decorating contest for primary students are planned.

Batavia to Get 12 Street Lights

Batavia’s Main Street will gain 12 new powerful lights after the Batavia Business Men's Association approved installing them if business men cover half the cost. Nine existing lights will be moved to residential sections with greatest need, and the two year agreement may lead to full city funding. Roger Cloud will speak at a Republican rally October 26 at Mt. Two Burglaries Solved In Cincinnati Suburb

Sheriff announces two Oct. 16 burglaries at Maria's Drive In and Jackson Lake Tavern in Glen Este solved. J. C. Kerr 24 and Charles Reece 30 of Cincinnati held on breaking and entering charges. Kerr confessed implicating Reece and two juveniles. Authorities from Clermont and Hamilton counties coordinated investigations. Items stolen include cigars $100 cash from Maria's and $100 cigars and a German make revolver from Jackson Lake Tavern.

OSU Technicians Meet Draws Two Attendees

Q. L. Hannah of Felicity and Walter Garman of Newtonsville attended the COBA technicians conference at Ohio State University on October 16 and 17.
