Man Arrest Warrant Issued for Milford Assault Suspect

Milford Ohio police report a warrant was issued last Thursday for Albert Hodges 39 of State Route 181 two miles east of Milford who allegedly attacked Milford high school principal Sidney B Cutlip. Hodges operates a body shop in Cincinnati and arrived at noon to confront the principal about his sons attendance. The principal suffered cuts and bruises to face and head. Hodges is a neighbor to the Milford area.

Ten Thousand Realized At Dean Estate Auction

An Owensville sale to settle the Hawkins Dean Estate brought about $10,000 last week. Attorney Hugh Nichols, administrator, announced the result. Dean died August 22 of poison and lived near Owensville on the Owensville Bel Fast Road. Auctioneer John Bissantz of Williamsburg conducted the sale with attendance exceeding 700 people.

Governor Lausche to Speak in Batavia Saturday

Governor Frank J. Lausche will address supporters at noon Saturday from the Batavia courthouse steps with Lt. Gov. George Nye and other Democratic candidates. If weather turns unfavorable the event moves to Batavia school auditorium. He will also speak at Georgetown at 2 30 p.m.

School Official Resigns Position in Wilmington

The Wilmington school superintendent Holmes resigns effective November 1 after serving since 1942. Under a five year contract he oversaw a $300000 building addition and will oversee one high school and three elementary schools. The funeral for Danny Johnson is noted, as his family mourns a polio death in Cincinnati.

Youthful tragedy shocks Milford with suicide note found

Kenneth Leroy Allen, 20, of Moores Fork died by a 20 gauge shotgun Sunday after expressing nervous illness concerns to parents. A lipstick note near a sample ballot read I love Alma. Sister Rosemary Royer found him around 6 30 a m. Sheriff Dericks and Deputy Skinner investigated at the Allen home.

Batavia Courier employee joins Navy service

Donald Patton chief Courier job printer for four years is called for service. A reservist, he will report Sunday to the Bainbridge Maryland Navy Base. He is son of Mr and Mrs Hubert Patton of Route 1 Batavia and a Batavia High School graduate. He is the third Courier employee to report since the Korean War began.

Neville School to Close by End of School Year

Neville Ohio will close its local school at season end. The district will be dissolved and students reassign to nearby schools due to Neville students already attending other schools. The move follows a decision by the Board of Education, the local board, and citizens group.

Curfew Enforced for Batavia Youths on Halloween Nights

Batavia officials announce a curfew for anyone under 18 from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. during Halloween season under the 1903 ordinance. The post office siren will sound each evening at 9 to warn residents and police will enforce restrictions on streets, alleys, highways and public places. Children aiding in charity or accompanied by a parent may be exempted.
