Woman Dies Four Hurt In Accidents

Rhoda Glass 79 of New Richmond died in a head on crash on Rt 52 at Pond Run Road near New Richmond. Mabel M. Fopp 92 and Pete D. Charfins 26 were among the injured, with multiple fractures and lacerations. A second crash on Rt 50 near Owensville injured Mary Knudsen 19. Spears 23 was cited for passing at an intersection.

Five-Year Clermont Traffic Deaths and Accidents Rise

A state five-year report by Warren C. Nelson shows Clermont County traffic crashes from 1958 to 1962 produced 98 fatalities and 3986 injuries, with 6089 accidents causing 2 947 160 dollars in property damage. In 1958 19 fatalities. in 1962 21.

Vandals Strike Clermont County Special Classes Bus

Vandalism disrupted Batavia school buses used for special classes. Minor damage required a mechanic to repair one bus and classes were canceled. Teaching Project Set Demonstration at West Clermont

Dr Richard Suchman of the University of Illinois will demonstrate methods for teaching scientific inquiry to West Clermont teachers on Friday November 1. The Illinois Study, funded by a U S Office of Education Grant, has tested inquiry skills in children over three years. Suchman will teach in a classroom while teachers observe via inter circuit television using a camera loan from the American Sound Company.

County officials study Fairfield procedures for Clermont

Clermont County Auditor Earl Metzger and Treasurer Byron Ross visited Lancaster on Wednesday to observe Fairfield County office procedures. The pair planned further trips to comparable counties to study governance methods for possible adoption in Clermont offices.

Clermont County aid requests remain under federal review

Clermont County seeks 185000 in federal grants for a water system but the status remains undisclosed by the Housing and Urban Development Agency. County water manager Harlan Mace reported the review prioritizes applications filed before January 24, 1963 with Clermont’s application dated April 1963.

Scouts Hike 34 Mile Grant Trail From Georgetown to Pt Pleasant

Ten Boy Scouts from Williamsburg Troop 416 completed a 34 mile trek along the U. S. Grant Trail from Georgetown through Feesburg to Bethel camping overnight and finishing with a 16 mile march to Pt. Pleasant. The hike is open March 1 to Nov. 1 and is sponsored by the U. S. Grant Trail Committee.

The Clermont County Principals Association met at the county superintendent's office in Batavia on October 15. Elsie Minnick led the session, officers Claude Wipperman, Kathryn Marr, and Vince Gilley were unanimously elected, and plans for a spring dinner with spouses were set.

Health Welfare Committee Endorses State Issue No 1

The Health and Welfare Committee voted unanimously on Oct 11 to back State Issue No 1 on the November ballot. It funds operating money for training all county mental retardates and funds a bond for classroom space. Renewal Levies Do Not Raise Taxes in New Richmon

In New Richmon Exempted Village School District voters will decide on a 7.9 mill operating levy renewal for an indefinite period, unchanged taxes at $7.90 per $1000 valuation. A separate 4.2 mill village levy renewal for 20 years would cost $4.20 per $1000. A majority vote passes both levies.

Knothole Awards Dinner Set in Goshen Elementary School

Clermont County Knothole Awards dinner will be held at Goshen Elementary School on Saturday October 26 from 6 30 to 8 pm. Daniel P Heisler the county Knothole supervisor invites all interested to attend. Dave Grote secretary of the National Baseball League will be the principal speaker and awards will be given to championship team players and outstanding adult supporters of the Knothole program throughout the county.

County Republican Leader Dies at 75 in Bethel

Guy E. Holmes 75 of 333 N Charity St Bethel, longtime Clermont County Republican Executive Committee chairman and former vice chairman, died October 16 after 18 months in failing health. Services set for Friday at Kennedy Funeral Home with burial in Bethel Tate Cemetery. He served 10 years in the Navy and 20 years with the U S naturalization and immigration service. Survived by wife Mary two sons Charles and Allen and six grandchildren.

Trustees Discuss Hiring Counsel for Clermont County Group

The Clermont County Trustees and Clerks Association formed a committee to seek legal counsel for the group or per board resolution. Clarence Prosecutor Ralph A. Hill said fees would be case based and that one issue was appealing a Budget Commission action. President James Anderson named Harold Bissantz Carl Burger and Lyle Sutton to a nominating committee for officers to be chosen at the November meeting.
