New Richmond School Board of Education seeks alternate bids for a new elementary school with equipment. Bond issue of 1.4 million dollars funds purchase of ground and interest, with at least 200 thousand reserved for the high school. Sealed bids to Harold Tomlin, clerk, due by 12 noon November 12.
Judge Harry Britton reported that three of four Clermont County suspects were found sane after a 30 day mental examination overseen by Dr. R. B. Bushong. Larry Ferrell Richard Funke and Horace Lunsford Jr were deemed sane while Willie Simms was declared insane and to be returned to the state hospital.
Absent and disabled voters may apply for ballots now and vote by 4 p m November 3 at the Board of Elections by appointment. Call Batavia 3-2276 between 10 a m and 3 p m. A proposed reorganization of three local school districts will go to Amelia Williamsville-Tabasco and Glen Este-Mt Carmel voters on November 8.
Paul Honeycut six, son of Claude and Mrs Honeycut, suffered facial and arm cuts when an auto driven by his father ran off a country road near Bethel. He was treated at Brown County Hospital. Father fined fifty dollars and costs for excessive speed under conditions. The incident also notes another son Marvin four was uninjured. A card party is scheduled at St Philemena Church in Stonelick that evening.
Seven Clermont countians will be inducted into the armed services in November, Harold L. Hays, Ohio Selective Service Chief, has announced.
The Withamsville-Tabasco Civic Club gathered for installation of officers. Newly seated are Dean Taylor as vice president, Norma Strait as treasurer, Edward Seghers as president, and Robrt Schafer as secretary. Last year’s officers C. C. Ratliff, J. C. Johnson, Delbert Waddell, and Robert Deickman are noted, with Deickman absent for the photo.
The Union Township zoning committee met Monday Oct 10 in the Upper Clough club hall. Members including Har ley Bell Tom Clepper and Dean Taylor discussed maps provided by Chalmers Ratliff and LeFevre and Associates to show light industry areas and overall zoning. The group agreed to hire zoning counsel for a reasonable fee paid by the Board of Township.
The New Richmond Pee wee football team will face Hyde Park in a 3 p m benefit game Sunday at the New Richmond ball park. New Richmond sits second in the Eastern League Division with 2 1. Coach Rodney Duncan notes wins over Mt. Washington 14 6 and Indian Hill 19 6, loss to Madeira 25 0. Proceeds fund the Pee Wees equipment fund.
Anthony Lang, Clermont County VFW post commander, and Emma Shinkle, auxiliary president, led a group including Mr. and Mrs. Earl Pindell and others to the Veterans Hospital in Cincinnati on Wednesday evening October 12 and hosted a party for the veterans in the auditorium. Lunch was served.
Pierce Township voted to hire Albert Dittman as full time policeman at 400 dollars a month after a petition signed by 400 residents. Trustees are Al White Archer Knause and Luther Pollitt. The Mt. Carmel Glen Este School district plans several meetings next week including an Open House for parents on the 21st and a final consolidation discussion on October 25 ahead of the November 8 election. The Union Two Civic Association meets October 26 in the school cafeteria at 8 PM.
Este School board schedules an open meeting at 8 p.m. on Tuesday October 25 at the school to discuss consolidation and progress of the building plan. A card party featuring 500 and euchre is set for 8 p.m. Saturday October 22 at the German House Affon sponsored by Clermont County VFW No 3954 with prizes.
Miss Louise Nuxoll, field representative for Cincinnati Social Security, will meet in the Batavia Court House conference room from 9 00 a m to 12 00 noon on Tuesday October 25 1955.
Attorney Donald B. Calhoun says Clermont County Board of Education moved Branch Hill Local School District to Loveland Exempted Village District on August 4 1955. A September 23 1955 meeting rescinded that action. A November ballot petition with 425 signatures was not acted on. Calhoun sent a letter to Prosecutor Ray Bradford asking for investigation and possible grand jury referral. The case centers on district transfer legality and petition validity.
Ralph Sovereign elected Owensville Kiwanis Club president at the October 13 meeting. The installation is set for 6 30 p m October 20 at the Old Boston House. A cub leaders basic training course begins October 23 at 2 p m in Batavia Presbyterian Church social room with three classes, certificates, and credit toward the Scoutmaster's Key.
