Mrs Grace Speidel wife of Batavia attorney Russell Speidel reported to Times Star correspondent George Ankermiller in Batavia that she saw a circular object hovering near Owensville on Monday. The object circled slowly then shot north at terrific speed forcing her near collision on State Route 132.

Contract Set For Pierce Road Work
The Glenn Rhoades Construction Company of Mt Crab has won a Pierce township project on Late E Route 749 Section 3.38 with a bid of 40 496 10 and estimated cost 45 700. The job includes tie grading draining asphalt paving on crushed aggregate and a 15 ft 10 in by 9 ft 10 in corrugated metal structure. Completion is due by June 30 1956.

Young Girl Shot in Miami Ville Hospitalized in Critical Condition
Frieda Richardson, 15, daughter of Mr and Mrs Orville Richardson of Miami Ville, is in poor condition at Our Lady of Mercy Hospital after a 12 gauge shotgun wound to the stomach. Surgeons removed a kidney and part of her intestines to save her life. She is a Milford High freshman and one of ten children. The Edu Rec Club meets Saturday evening Oct 15 at Bethel Grange Hall with visitors welcome.

Route 4 Project Hearing Set as Plans Progress
Survey crews on Route 74 toward Mt. Carmel finished work and plans for the Mt. Carmel Hill project include an extra uphill lane for trucks, curve realignment, and resurfacing. Sheriff Clyde B Dericks and deputies seek a lone bandit who robbed Owensville Merchants and Farmers Bank of 567 dollars last Thursday during a rainstorm. The suspect wore khaki trousers, a black slicker, and a blue cap and escaped after threatening employees with a gun. A second robbery at J Chisman gas station near Williams Corner yielded checks, watches, and necklaces totaling about 567 dollars, with two accomplices waiting in a blue 1940s Chevrolet.
