Evans family on Route 125 near Amelia runs an apple and cider stand with baskets of apples, fall fruits, and vegetables. They bought the farm a year ago from Mary Lee Houser and have since sprayed the orchard and protected it. The article notes prior residences and service history, including David Evans's safety role at Victor Electric and a veteran woman’s death, but the centerpiece is the Evans apple farm attracting tourists for overnight stays.

Bethel Airport welcomed over 100 privately owned planes and pilots for a Sunday flight breakfast meeting led by A. A. Brown. Attendees came from West Virginia Kentucky Ohio and Indiana. The lone woman pilot was Katherine Iles of Batavia. An accident occurred when a student pilot's plane taxied into a parked aircraft causing minor damage.
The Clermont County Independent Basketball League convened Tuesday at Bath Distributing Co in Amelia with ten teams entered. A follow up meeting is set for next Tuesday at the same site with the entry deadline announced by Floyd Rath secretary treasurer.
The Rev. John Robert Bogus Jr will take over duties at the Beach North Dakota Methodist church after leaving Summerside Summerside. He is popular with youth groups and known for his approachable style and humor. The minister and his wife were warmly received in the community.
State Treasurer Don Ebright spoke to a large Clermont County audience at Mt. Carmel Glen Este school auditorium after a joint potluck by the Clermont County Women’s Republican Club and the Citizens Republican Club. He urged a positive program to win the next election, noted the state’s deficit after a prior surplus, and lamented falling turnout from 75 percent in 1940 to 92 percent in 1948. He was introduced to Ausman, nine-year-old son of Sam Ausman, welfare director.

The Clermont County Farm Bureau Co-op completed a two story facility on State Route 74 in Batavia. The 75 by 132 foot building houses offices conference rooms a display room parts department and a soil and grain testing lab. Storage tanks for 90 000 gallons of gasoline and fuel are nearby. The First District Court of Appeals in Batavia heard three old cases including an action against Ben Consolidated Mining Co Manila Philippines and John W Hausermann of New Richmond. Judge Harry Britton had ruled the company not doing sufficient business in Ohio to legally authorize its service.
A Clermont County Common Pleas Court hearing drew a large turnout from town constables and police chiefs as Herbert A. Rumpke seeks 2500 damages from State Patrolman Mark Trees and Travelers Indemnity Co. for alleged rude abusive language and a blow to his eye during a May traffic stop.
Four boys went missing near Mt. Carmel Saturday evening. Harold Henderson 14, Stephen Rusk 12, Ronald Rinehart 11, and Gerald 8 rode bikes. bicycles were found at the Rinehart home, sparking an all night search that ended with the youths returning home at 9:30 a m the next day after spending the night in the woods warming with a bonfire and baked potatoes.

Joseph W. Evans of Owensville, Clermont County Library Board member, urges voters to study the county library levy proposed at one mill for two years, expected to raise about $40,000 annually. He argues benefits to families and schools, notes prior 4-1 voter support, and asks for a YES vote on November 8.
Eldon Mardis 22 of Milford, a Shell station operator, is hospitalized in Marion with a fractured skull after a crash on Route 47 near Prospect while returning from Ohio Wesleyan University. Edward Seigle and Don Harris suffer leg and brain injuries. driver James Horton fractures an ankle and back in the truck collision. A nitric acid spill occurred but no burns to car occupants. Separately, C Sam Shaw nearly died cleaning an old Route 131 well, revived after 20 minutes with Milford police and Dr Pas-sing-er using an inhalator.
Byron Ross, long time chairman of the Clermont County Agricultural Conservation Committee, is promoted to district supervisor of eight burley tobacco counties in southern Ohio. Thomas S. Hill will succeed him as county chairman. The eight counties listed are Adams Brown Clermont Gallia Highland Jackson Lawrence and Scioto. Ross became chairman in December 1945 after Edward Saxton resigned. Other committee members include Walter Smith and Richard S. Winder.
The Owensville Baptist Church Woman's Missionary Society met on Sept. 23 with Mrs. Viola Snider and Mrs. Wyatt as hostesses. Guest speaker Mrs. E. A. Petroff of Hamilton Ohio, president of the W. N. Uz and White Water Association, spoke and refreshments followed.

Hugh Llewellyn Nichols II of Batavia becomes the fourth generation in his family to graduate from UC College of Law. He earned a Bachelor of Law degree Oct. 14 in Laws Auditorium and plans to sit for the Bar next February before joining Nichols Speidel Nichols of Batavia.
Peggy Koogler of Batavia will be among the members of Mary Binegar's court when she is crowned Queen of Wilmington College Homecoming on Saturday October 22. Koogler is a Batavia High School graduate. The Queen and her court will ride in the Homecoming parade, be presented at halftime of the football game, and attend the banquet and dance afterward.
