A veteran teacher of 42 years at George P Sands School in Cincinnati, he also runs probate and real estate title work from an office in the Second National Bank Building. Motorists stop to admire or buy his flowers as Mrs Springer raises hybrid tea roses and the couple recently moved from Cincinnati nine years ago.

County Voters Face Local and State Issues in November
Clermont County voters will weigh state and local matters on November 8 including bond issues and school levies. Felicity Franklin Township will decide on beer wine and liquor sale options and a state measure would legalize colored oleomargarine with plainly marked servings. Also on the ballot are constitutional amendments on multiple probate judges and grouping candidates by office. A library levy seeks funds for operation and maintenance. Two 10 cent levies for Clermont County bridges and roads require 55 percent support for two years.

Batavia Woman Loses $1700 in Jewel Robbery
In Batavia last Thursday a thief entered between 2 and 4 pm through a kitchen door at Mrs. Barbara Smith’s home. Looters took jewelry valued at about $1700 from a bedroom jewel box and vanity case, including a stud and cuff set, a pink gold wrist watch, cash, and small coins. Police investigate with fingerprints sought. no new clues reported.

David Harris Cleared Of Charges In Local Case
Dave Harris of Loveland faced possession of stolen property charges from September and was found not guilty. While in custody, other youths claimed his innocence, saying he only agreed to take another boy to Cincinnati unaware the companion held a stolen accordion to pawn. Cincinnati police stopped the pair and sent them back to Batavia.

State Patrolman Mounts Not Guilty in $2500 Suit
A Clermont County jury found State Patrolman Mark S. Trees not guilty after five hours of deliberation. Rumpke, 21, of Batavia, accused Trees of stopping him for speeding at Mt. Carmel and Tabasco Pike and State Route 74, then using abusive language and causing injuries. Trees, represented by Alec Dombey of Columbus, denied the claims.

Bad Check Passer Sentenced in Milford Case
Richard Staat, 39, sign manufacturer of Milford, pleaded guilty to seven counts of passing bad checks in Hamilton County Common Pleas Court. He received a one to three year prison term. His wife Esther, 34, had the true bills dropped. The couple, arrested at 39 Water Street after a Milford police investigation, faced four small children while Staat sought to free his wife to care for the kids.
