Burley Tobacco Pool Gains Momentum in Ohio and Kentucky
Brown county tobacco growers signed many acres at a Georgetown meeting Saturday boosting pool participation. About 4500 acres farmed locally with 50 to 66 percent pooled. Clermont county reported over 60 percent pooled. Meetings in other Ohio cities and in Kentucky showed strong gains as the Burley Society notes recent purchases and bright prices.

A horse owned by Mr. Duke in Clinton County showed hydrophobia symptoms after being bitten by a mad dog. Several men who treated the animal were bitten or sprayed with the foamy saliva and traveled to the Poster Institute in Chicago for hydrophobia treatment. Blaze at Burg Destruction of Block in Williamsburg
Fire swept through a Main Street block in Williamsburg last Friday night destroying a combined business and residence owned by George Williams and Mrs. Mildred McNutt. Williams and his family occupied the building while Walter Gale ran a barber shop and living quarters in the same block. Losses total about 3000 dollars with Williams carrying eight thousand dollars and McNutt seven hundred in insurance. Gale's household goods were damaged but his shop fixtures were saved. Neighbors acted quickly to save adjoining property.

Loyd Dale Fagin Dies After Short Illness at 28
Loyd Dale Fagin born August 25 1881 died September 26 1909 at age 28 years and 1 month. He was the youngest of eight children and had recently managed the Health and Accident Department of the Columbia Life Insurance Co Cincinnati. He sought family companionship in Ohio after years in Colorado and the West and was admired for his cheerful temper and promising career. Time will heal the wound in the hearts of those who loved him.
