Amelia village seeks transfer of light fund to general fund

In Clermont County Common Pleas Court the village of Amelia petitions to move 1000 from its electric light fund to the general fund. The village reports an unencumbered light fund balance of 4356 dollars and says it profits from buying electricity from Cincinnati Gas & Electric Co for distribution to residents. Attorney James W. Walker filed the suit.

Lead and Silver Furnace Starts in Hardin County Illinois

A new furnace in Hardin County Illinois begins producing lead from ore with 67 to 70 percent yield, some reaches 86 percent by crude methods. The region is rich in minerals with silver prevailing in lead at about $30 per ton, via a cheap process that could render silver profitable.

Railroad Water Tank Aid During Drought

During the drought the C P W Railroad provided water to towns along the line from a tank on a platform car. Manager Hunt ordered the service and citizens highly appreciated the generous aid.

Loveland Man Sues Wife For 22000 In Assets

Robert L. Wolfe of Loveland files suit against his wife Bessie C. Wolfe seeking a court order to account for and divide about 44000 in assets. He claims she has misappropriated earnings investments and real estate from 20 years of marriage and seeks a half interest in the Creager farm. He itemizes 18000 from real estate sales 10500 in bonds 14500 in other securities 1500 in cash and two Packard cars.

Batavia Begins Large Farm Implement Center Building

Construction starts on Main Street opposite the Farm Bureau plant for a new farm implement center. Florence L. Walker funds the project for long-term use by Albert Anstaett and Zenas Anstaett, moving their Water Street business to the 80 by 40 foot building with workshop showroom office and parts room.

Clermont Health Office Lacks Head

The Clermont County Board of Health cannot find a successor for Health Commissioner A. B. Ream who asked to be released early this month. Dr. Ream will stay on to supervise for the rest of the month but must travel to Mechanicsburg, Ohio, where his family has relocated and he will resume private practice.

Batavia Realty Sold to Company by County Auction

Clermont County commissioners approved the sale of the old creamery on Victoria Street to George W. Schaeffer and Raymond Halbersen of Cincinnati for 3750. The buyers, who lease the building, recently started a beer distributing business there. They also acquired three lots in Gregg Subdivision for 750. The county had previously owned the properties for storage, deeming them impractical.

Clyde B Dericks Clermont County ff announced the appointment of Marvin Bissantz of Batavia as temporary deputy sheriff. Bissantz recently returned from over three years in the Army including 21 months in the European theater and holds five battle stripes. He has resided in Clermont County all his life.

He served three years abroad including the South Pacific as Staff Judge Advocate and member of the General Staff Corps. Harold Koker a Owensville poultryman and president of the Ohio Valley Egg Cooperative resigns last Saturday to become manager of the egg auction in Nelsonville Ohio Virgil Hamilton of Greenville Ohio becomes president for the rest of the year Lloyd Mullett manager of the cooperative announced today The annual meeting and director elections are set for November 23 and a successor to Koker will be named then Koker previously managed the Caldwell poultry farm at Owensville Ohio.

Man 70 Held in Forgery Case In Amelia Cafe Incident

Louis E. Rounds also known as Louis Spears and Louis Edwards, a former Bethel resident, was bound over to the grand jury on forgery and insufficient funds charges. He allegedly tried to cash a $25 check at Fillie's Cafe, now run by Charles Ennis, after forging the name of former owner George Fille to obtain endorsement.

Coal Dealers Get 80 Percent Supply After Rule Change

Wayne P Ellis, regional fuel distributor, reports to the Clermont County Solid Fuels Administration for War Committee that SFAW Regulation 26 is rescinded as of September 21 1945. Dealers may deliver all coal to customers if available but will receive only 80 percent of their tonnage from producers while the producer delivery rule remains in effect. Mundew urges full cooperation on clothing drive

Mundew calls for community wide participation in a clothing drive from January 7 to 31 1946. He chairs Batavia Williamsburg Stonelick Jackson and Union townships urging each organization to appoint a three member committee and attend a planning meeting November 14 at 8 pm in the Batavia courthouse conference room.

In Clermont County 304 residents receive old age and survivors insurance totaling 627,11 monthly and 74,72532 yearly. The Cincinnati Social Security office reports 9,769 local beneficiaries with 194,910.03 monthly benefits and 2,338,920.36 yearly, plus 1,945 lump sums of 46,420.95 in three months.

PTA Buys Raincoats for Safety Patrol

The Batavia PTA held its first meeting of the school year with 95 parents and teachers. Mrs James W Walker was elected president, Superintendent Parrott spoke, and new teachers were introduced. The group approved purchasing rain coats and hats for Safety Patrols and celebrated the Parrotts twenty first wedding anniversary with cake and coffee. Future meetings are planned for the second Thursday each month.
