Milford Pilot Foote Dies In Service In Europe
Captain Foote served as an air forces navigator behind enemy lines in Italy and the Balkans. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for his missions and returned to the United States last spring. Lt. William W. Undercoffer is presumed dead by the War Department after his B 17 with the 15th Air Force was shot down near neutral Adriatic territory. He had 40 missions, bailed out with chutes opening, and his crew members survived. Born 1915 in Loveland, he worked at West End Power Station and later joined the Royal Canadian Air Force before transferring to the RAF after Pearl Harbor. He married a Canadian woman and has a 17 month old daughter in Toronto. His mother, sister, and three brothers survive.
