Mrs. Evans led devotionals, Mrs. Hoffman and Mrs. Massey sang, Mrs. Blinn of Cincinnati delivered the afternoon address, and Dr. McCulloch offered encouragement as Batavia’s group pledged to boost their work and refine their methods.

The new two mile pike by Buerkle and Pringle between Batavia and Hamlet opened to public travel last week. It draws heavy traffic though the old Hamlet side is poor. Wreck Averted on N6788 Eastbound Tank Derailment
A tank attached to the eastbound local N6788 derailed a mile and a half east of Seaman on the Cincinnati division. Engineer William Glascow of Portsmouth stopped the train with emergency brakes after the tank left the rails, passengers were jolted but uninjured. Tracks torn up, five hours delay. Clare Terminals crew cleared the line. Conductor Dick Bateman of Cincinnati and fireman Arthur Weaver of Portsmouth led the train crew.
