Milford reader marks fifty-one years with Courier

Jory Leonard J. Harding of Milford visited the Courier to renew his 51 year subscription. He began in June 1901 the week he was elected precinct committeeman later becoming Milford postmaster in 1922 and chairman of Clermont County Republican Central Committee from 1914 to 1922. He also ran an Milford insurance agency and visits Batavia to see his son in law John Friend, Clermont County Democratic Treasurer.

Seventeen Girls Compete For Corn Queen Crown Saturday

Seventeen contestants are set to vie for the Corn Queen title this Saturday. The group includes Evelyn Deel Annabelle Stroup Loretta Burdsall Wanda Gravitt Pat Ingram Jo Ann Custer Julia Hawke and Helen Ingram seated. Standing are Carolyn Nott Helen Wilson Bonnie Lou Otto Jenny Lee Pierce Carol Kellum Rose Gloeckner Carol Gloeckner Jeannie Cahill and Jo Ann Schneider. GOP Candidates to Speak at Local Meetings Tonight

Mrs Katherine English Wetzel will address Batavia PTA at 8 p m at the school as GOP state senate candidate. Friday she shares the platform with Leo Blackburn Republican candidate for Congress Sixth District at Jackson township GOP rally Odd Fellows Hall Marathon. Four County Posts Offer Free Rides to Polls

The American Legion sponsors a November 4 vote drive with four posts providing free rides from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Dispatchers at Batavia Bethel Williamsburg and Milford Terrace coordinates will pick up voters and return them home. The service covers 27 880 people across 41 precincts in Batavia Bethel Milford Terrace areas.

Federal hospital aid not available for Clermont County

Dr. Coleman notes Ohio Health Department backs Dr Bachmeyer on not building a hospital now. A 1952 letter from Dr Borowski cancels Hill Burton federal aid for Clermont County and indicates aid priorities favor Georgetown and Cincinnati areas where need is greater.
