In honor of the 54th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Mahlon Walker a dinner party was hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Harry Jordan on Oct 3 bringing together 39 family members. Demonstration Agent Named for Clermont County
A group of farm women meeting at the George Nash home in Glen Este recommended Helen Louise Stanfield as Home Demonstration Agent for Clermont County. Stanfield, raised near New Burlington, Ohio, is a Wilmington College alumna who studied at Ohio State University and Miami University. Her background includes home economics teaching in Warren and Montgomery Counties and youth guidance with 4-H, and she will begin duties around Oct. 18.

George Street Extension Opens in New Richland October 1948
George Street extends from Hamilton to Caroline Street and opens to traffic October 15 1948. Frank Strasinger New Richmond Council member and Street Commissioner stated the project completed by the street maintenance crew will provide high water routing to Long and Short Hills and allow access to Route 132 beyond the village. If Route 132 is raised the improvement will permit travel to Lindale Hamlet and Route 125 even when much of the village is flooded.

Father of Mrs William Moore Dies at 82
Louis Henrich died in Cincinnati on October 11 at age 82. A Newport Ky businessman, he recently lived with daughter Mrs. William S Moore in Batavia. He leaves a son Louis Henrich of California and a wife who died in China in 1927 while serving as an international representative of the Order of Eastern Stars. A brief service will be held at the Moore Funeral Home Batavia Thursday night at 8. Funeral services with Blue Lodge Scottish Rite and OES will be at the Presbyterian Church Newport Friday at 1 pm, with Evergreen Cemetery interment.

N and W Train Hits Car Three Escape Injury
Three local women narrowly escaped death when the Eastbound No 16 on the N and W line struck their Plymouth Coupe near the Afton station. Driver Dora Boyd 47 said the car stalled on the track before the train arrived. Irene Malott 45 and Mina Smith 77 were with her. all escaped to safety before impact. Conductor L W Crookshank led the train crew.

Improved Bus Service Sought in Newtown
A large delegation from Newtown urged the Council for more adequate and frequent bus service to Cincinnati. Petitions with 140 names were presented, citing standing-room crowd on several trips and lack of service from 7 to 11:30 p.m. Croswell Bus Line’s Robert Croswell attended and promised to report in two weeks on adding more buses for trial runs to gauge patronage.
