Trailer truck leaves highway damages house in Willimsville

A trailer truck crashed into the residence of Willard Miller in Willimsville on Saturday morning. The vehicle, loaded with new Plymouth cars for Francis and Son of Amelia, caused considerable damage to the house and truck. Driver Paul R Cannady of Ann Arbor faced state and county investigation by Patrolman Mark Trees and Deputy Marvin Bissanty.

Avey Addresses Clermont County Library District Issue

Jury fails to reach verdict in Kerr Parsons trial

In Clermont County Common Pleas Court Rob ert Kerr of Batavia sought 6586 damages from William Parsons over a 15 acre tract near Olive Branch alleging inadequate water and misrepresentation. A prior jury ruled for Parsons and the appeals court later reversed that judgment. The property has since changed hands with Kerr represented by Bly White and Davidson and Allen Roudebush. Eckert's Opens New Downstairs Store In Mt. Washington

Eckert's Department Stores announces a grand reopening for a downstairs Mt. Washington shop at 2100 Beechmont Avenue. The new department offers hardware, paints, electrical goods, mattresses, and household items with a Saturday October 9 opening at 8 30 am. Joe Eckert guarantees low prices, with gifts for all and prizes for adults. The Mt. Washington store joins enlarged main floor departments and matches prices with the Cincinnati downtown store at 307 E. Pearl Street.

Winklesby Kennels Founder Mrs Atkinson Dies at 89

Funeral services were held in Cincinnati for Mrs. Winifred Sinclair Atkinson wife of Rev. F B Atkinson of Batavia. A native of England born 1892 she died of a heart attack at her Batavia home Friday morning. She built Winalesby Kennels noted breeder of Standard Schnauzers and won Westminster titles for 11 straight years. Survived by her husband she was a Christ Church member and diocesan missionary for Southern Ohio.

Fire Prevention Week Talk At Williamsburg School

In observance of Fire Prevention Week, Mr. Charles E. Scott chief of the Fire Prevention Bureau will speak at the Williamsburg school Thursday evening Oct 7 at 8 oclock. His topic is Rural Fire Prevention. A movie and a school musical program will be presented. All who are interested in fire prevention are urged to attend.

Mrs. Edgar Lukie of New Richmond Ohio, president of the Clermont County unit of the American Cancer Society, announces an open meeting in Goshen school auditorium Wednesday October 13 at 8 pm with motion pictures and a speaker. Miss Louise Thomas of Glen Este married Wilton D Bowling of Kentucky on Saturday September 25 with Miss Allan Thomas and Bert Hacker as witnesses. The bride’s aunt Mrs Raymond Gibson hosted the wedding supper and her sister-in-law Mrs Tom Thomas baked the cake. The couple left for Kentucky to reside with the groom’s family before establishing their own home.

Grand Jury Bound Over In Clermont County Case

Thomas Makin formerly of a farm on Hopper Hill Road bound over to the Clermont County grand jury on a Dornette filed charge that he took property valued around $200 from the farm. Mayor A C Munden of Batavia said evidence supports guilt and set bond at $200. Mrs Edward Pence returned home after hospitalization at Our Lady of Mercy Hospital.

Assistant County Agent Named for County

A committee recommends Oscar Eric Swanson as Associate Clermont County Agent. Swanson, with degrees from Syracuse University and the University of Illinois, will work with W. W. Hamilton on extension service programs. a home demonstration agent is hoped to be hired soon. He plans to live near his work in Deer Park.

First Draft Call On October 14

On October 14 seven young men from Clermont County report to Cincinnati in the first draft call. Men nearing the end of their 25 year will receive the first call. The Service Board has moved from its temporary quarters in the Court house to the rooms vacated by the Division of Aid for the Aged. Coal Truck Crash Injures Driver Near Perintown

A Alexander Coal Company truck left Route 50 near Perintown and struck a tree injuring driver Robert Catt who suffered a shoulder dislocation and facial cuts after swerving to avoid an out of control car. Dr. Carl Minning treated him.

Felicity Men Face Charges Over Utopia Cafe Disturbance

Two Felicity men and one Red Oak man were to appear before Batavia Mayor A. C. Munden for a hearing on a disturbance at the Green Lantern Cafe in Utopia. Douglas Masters and William Long of Felicity and Leon Gast of Red Oak were arrested and charged with being drunk and disorderly.
