Batavia Loses Two Leading Citizens in Deaths
Two lifelong Batavia residents Aden C. Nash and Mrs P F Jamieson died within days of each other. Nash, 68, founder of Nash drug store and active in the Methodist church, left a daughter Mrs Martha Rasey of Los Angeles. Jamieson, widow of P F Jamieson and a Batavia clan figure, had served as a bank president’s wife and church worker. Funeral for Mrs Jamieson set for Thursday at 2:30 at Moore Funeral Home with burial in Batavia cemetery. Funeral for Nash pending relatives’ arrival. A Batavia Women’s Society rummage sale at the Methodist church Saturday Oct 23 starts 9 a.m.

Perinton Soldier Commended for Bravery in Pacific Campaign
Staff Sergeant Herbert L. Barrow of Perintown received a commendation from Lt General Millard F. Harmon for outstanding conduct during August 1942 to May 1943 in the South Pacific. He filled in as acting section chief for a battalion supply unit, keeping it functioning at top speed amid jungle terrain and combat hazards.

County Agent Roy Battles announces his departure from Clermont County to join the Agricultural Staff of WLW Cincinnati. Since June 1935 he has served Clermont County farm folks as County Agent. In his new WLW role he will help prepare 14 farm radio programs weekly to support the farm war effort and food production. He hates leaving friends but says the job allows a greater contribution to the program.

Defendants in Clermont county court hear case of Specht v Waggal
An October term hearing is set in Clermont county Court of Common Pleas for a damage suit by Arthur Specht against Cornelius Waggal after a June collision at Ridge and Convent Road Hamilton county.
