Zoning Discussion Set For Clermont County Oct 26

The Zoning and Land Development Committee of Clermont County Planning Commission will meet township trustees October 26 to decide on zoning eight remaining townships. They will choose between township zoning commissions or county wide plans already prepared. Batavia township threads its general plan for its zoning commission. In Bethel, council approved a preliminary village zoning plan and asked planning director A B Suro to map and finalize a public hearing, with a master village plan and a village zoning commission to be appointed this week by Mayor Francis Smith.

Health Board Reclaims Oversight of Chest Clinic and TB Nurse

County commissioners, in a pint session with the health board and Prosecutor Ralph A. Hill, agreed to transfer supervision of the chest clinic and the TB nurse to the health board. Nurses will be hired by commissioners on board recommendations and telephones connected to the courthouse switchboard. An appropriation from the general fund allowed the clinic to resume operations last week. Amelia notes Patti Lillich, daughter of Lewis Lillich, pledged Alpha Chi Omega at the University of Cincinnati. her father serves as mayor of Amelia.

Clermont County plans four lane limited access highway

State Highway Department outlines a west to east four lane road from Milford to Vera Cruz crossing Clermont County. The route would run north of Rt 131 and US 50 south of Rt 28, linking Milford at Happy Hollow Rd to Brown County and bypass Newtonsville. Cost exceeds 3 million dollars with five planned sections and a public hearing to be scheduled.

Officials Accept Road and Subdivision in Two Areas

County commissioners accepted a road in Goshen township and a plat of the second section of Longfield Acres subdivision in Miami township. Stella Lane in Pray subdivision was accepted as a public road after owners agreed to fund upgrades. The Rt 131 Buckwheat Trail section will include four streets, with about 40 houses already standing and roughly 300 planned.

The Clermont County Bar Association unanimously endorses Harold D. Nichols of Batavia firm Speidel & Nichols for judge of the Court of Appeals. The Clermont County Democratic Executive Committee also backs Nichols, noting his vast experience, moral conviction, and service to church and state.
