West Clermont School Board studies service cuts after levy defeat

Following the Sept 26 operating levy defeat, the West Clermont board proposed cutting high school bus service and elementary trips within a mile of schools, closing buildings to meetings, and eliminating student activities with teachers' salaries spared first. If the November levy fails, salaries would be cut. An Oct 5 meeting will finalize service reductions planned for Oct 9, and refunds were issued for Oct classes.

County GOP Club President Resigns

The appeal of Con Ison former county commissioner convicted on three bribery counts will be heard in November when the Court of Appeals sits in Batavia. Prosecutor Ralph Hill and assistant Robert Jones argue the conviction rests on factual evidence. Ison received one to 10 years and remains free on bond while appealing.

Woman Hurt As Car Hits Utility Pole Near Hamersville

Mrs. Naomi J. Patterson 32 of S Charity Street injured when the auto she rode in struck a utility pole three miles south of Hamersville on Rt 505. She suffered a left leg fracture and facial cuts and was treated at Brown County Hospital Georgetown. Also injured were Graydon Foward 5 with facial cuts and a concussion. Danny Marks 11 sustained a compound fracture of the right leg and facial cuts after riding his bicycle into a car driven by Dudley Brager 61 of Moscow. The driver was not cited per Hamersville Police Chief Tom McKenzie.

Clermont County leaders push planning commission to assemble data on potential industrial sites. The study would include site locations topography and transportation access to attract industry and create jobs as population may reach about 150 000 by 1970.

Tax Stamp Sale Totals $7 672 In Clermont County Week

Clermont County prepaid tax receipts for the week ending September 16 totaled 7 672 40 dollars. State treasurer Joseph T. Ferguson reports cumulative collections of 113 826 10 dollars, versus 119 708 71 for the same period last year.

In Clermont County the Republican Central Committee appointed Mrs Elvira Werner of Newtonsville as Republican County Chairwoman and Mrs Myrl Zoller of Amelia as secretary. Milford patrolman Charles Brewster, 72, of 802 Center Street, Milford, was treated at Bethesda Hospital for observation after a mishap last Saturday. He has served for several years on school patrol duty at the Main Street crosswalk.

Heaf TB Tests To Be Discussed At PTA Meeting

WITHAMSVILLE The Clermont County Tuberculosis and Health Association will present the Heaf testing program at the Withamsville Tabasco PTA meeting October 10 at 8 p.m. in the school auditorium. Mary Ruth Stevens the school nurse will introduce a TB association speaker and explain the Heaf testing for first seventh and tenth grade pupils. An explanatory film will be shown and free Heaf testing offered to attendees. Seventh grade room mothers will be hostesses.
