On October 24 1927 the Ohio State Grange meets at Williamsburgh High School at eight p m to confer the sixth degree on all Grange Patrons who desire it Those who have had the fourth degree but not the fifth may come and will be obligated for the fifth making them eligible for the sixth Those taking the fifth must be at Williamsburg High School by six p m Delinquent fifth degrees may be reinstated at that time The event highlights the privilege and aims to show Clermont county as having a large active Grange membership relative to the region

Squirrels Move Into Town After Season Closes
Squirrels invade town as 1927 season ends and no harm can befall them. They nest in walnut trees and play about as if it is their habit. Rabbits also appear but stay concealed due to many dogs. hunters are not pursuing them yet.
Thieves Target Truck Growers and Livestock in Miami Township
Thieves are taking roasting cars and milk is being stolen at night from cows, with reports of a farmer losing seven pigs in one night three miles from town. Proceeds from the pigs were to pay a note, but no clues have been found. Steady thefts are anticipated as crop shortages and high living costs persist.

Batavia Electric Plant Changes Under New Owners
Batavia patrons of the electric light plant now pay the first bills under The Cincinnati Gas and Electric Company. Wm. Crosson handles billing at A. Nash's. Dinner for Boys Honors Jackson Children Moving to City
On Monday October 8 1927 Lindale school pupils hosted a dinner for Paul William Robert and Jessie Jackson who are moving to the city. Three visitors attended the event and the menu included bread and butter sandwiches, weiners, deviled eggs, potato salad, sliced tomatoes, pie cake apples and lemonade. Each Jackson child gave a short talk and the gathering ended with warm well wishes.

Mr and Mrs John L Applegate of Main street marked their 26th anniversary with 40 relatives and friends from Brown county Cincinnati Dayton Ky and local area. Rosie Brothers provided the bride's cake dated 1902 27. Guests enjoyed a three course chicken dinner, horseshoe pitching, and socializing in a decorated dining room. They have spent their married life in Batavia with many well wishers.

Former Batavian Mrs Lydia Sellers Britton died at her Jasper Alabama home on Tuesday of last week. Her funeral was held Thursday afternoon. She leaves a husband two sons one sister Mrs Prudence Bunn of Cincinnati and many friends. She was a member of the M E church and Eastern Stars.

Assault Suspect Vernon Perin Missing After Nighttime Attack
Vernon Perin, 17, who lived with his mother on Oakland Road between Goshen and Loveland, assaulted his mother last Friday at midnight, striking her with an old revolver and injuring her. Her younger son aided her, Perin fled and was last seen roaming a cornfield below Goshen Sunday. Sheriff Croswell led a search party Monday as authorities fear self harm or further violence. The family history notes a father’s prior suicide after killing his mother-in-law two years ago.
