Year’s Auto Fatalities Rise in Clermont County Tragedies
Four deaths on Route 50 near Marathon and Owensville push Clermont County auto fatalities for the year to 23. The Marathon crash killed Blanche Reynolds 83, James Reynolds 42, and Larry Wolfinger 21, all of Cincinnati, with William Kresz hurt. A second fatality, Lelia Dawson 70, occurred in a head on collision with Uel McElfresh 51 near Backbone Hill. Rena Bushman 76 died after a September 20 fall from a car on Route 132 near Batavia, raising total to 21 at that time.

Suspension Man Fined and Given Suspended Sentence
Lloyd Kirby, 35, of near Amelia, received a suspended 10 day workhouse sentence and a $25 fine after conviction in Cincinnati Police Court for possession of untaxed liquor. He and 26 others were arrested in a campaign to curb Ohioans purchasing liquor in Kentucky and transporting it to Ohio. Kirby said he bought across the river because local stores were closed and was promised to buy in Ohio. Judge Raymond Shannon indicated the open stores might have changed the outcome.

Welfare Conference Forum Set For Oct. In Cincinnati
The 69th annual Ohio Welfare Conference Forum will run October 19 to 22 at the Sheraton-Gibson Hotel in Cincinnati.
