Batavia choirs from local churches will unite for a Community Thanksgiving Eve service this year. Rehearsals begin Oct 21 at 8 p.m. in the Methodist Church under conductors Lois Walters and Helen Lahmann with Sue Lewis as organist.
The Clermont County League of Women Voters schedules two meetings, Oct. 21 evening and Oct. 15 afternoon, at Batavia Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall. A. E. Suro will speak on zoning at the Thursday session, with invitation extended to women interested in good government. Members recently attended the Fourth District Conference at Springfield.
Ohio motorists must go to the new consolidated station at 8958 Blue Ash Rd in Blue Ash for tests. The State Highway Patrol will book appointments for SY 11644 with hours 8 am to 5 pm Tuesday to Saturday. Clermont County tests stay at 385 W. Main St in the Courier building basement, 9 am to 12 noon Wednesdays and 9 am to 5 pm Thursdays and Fridays, no phone. in-person appointments only.
Four Clermont County districts win tentative state allocations totaling 3.81 million dollars, contingent on approved local bonds. Loveland exempted village, West Clermont, Milford, and Goshen districts each receive specific sums for new or remodeled facilities, with total state funds statewide at 7.84 million.

John W. Haussermann Jr., 50, a noted composer and son of 92-year-old Judge Haussermann, suffered fractures to his right leg and left shoulder when his car was forced off U.S. 52 by a truck and struck a utility pole near New Richmond. He was hospitalized in Cincinnati. His works have been performed by major symphonies. His father runs gold mines in the Philippines and has received the country’s highest decoration for his service.
Mrs Gordon Schulze will host Amelia Women's Civic Club on Monday October 19 at 8 p.m. Co hosts are Mrs Kenneth Little and Mrs Harry Lorentz. Final bazaar plans will be made for the Amelia high school auditorium and cafeteria on Saturday November 7 from 12 to 8 p.m. The event features handmade items baked goods and a dinner.
Clermont County Amateur Radio Club offers free weekly courses on code and theory starting Thursdays at 7 30 p m at 679 Ely Street Batavia. Instructors are Harold Beckelheimer W8OWP and George Purden W87RL. The club notes ham radio builds practical skills and world wide contacts but stresses licensing requirements by the FCC.
Two automobile crashes near Milford over the weekend injured eight people. Six Milford residents suffered injuries when their car clipped an electric pole on Rt 28 in front of the Kroger lot, with wires burning holes in concrete and a repair crew from Cincinnati Gas and Electric repairing the line. Jerome Gordon, 15, was badly cut on the tongue. others included Louis Gordon, 61, Frances Gordon, 60, and children Margaret 17, Paulette 5, Douglas 2. The car reportedly swerved after side swiping Lola Sanders’ Milford vehicle. John Repasy, 46, from Cincinnati, and his son John 13, were hurt when their car struck a bridge abutment on Rt 50, trapping them. hydraulic jacks freed them. George Winston, 49, Owensville, sustained chest and leg injuries on Rt 74 near Serdinia, taken to Bethesda Hospital in satisfactory condition.
