Library Board Appeals Budget Ruling in Grause Case

Clarence Wiese, a Cincinnati artist, has been hired by Ray Bradford to paint a portrait of the hitchhiker seen Aug. 25 on the Nicholsville New Richmond Rd. The image will be distributed to local police as investigators pursue the Grause slaying case. Grause disappeared Aug. 25 and his body was found Aug. 28 near a creek bed by the highway.

Clermont County Library Board Seeks State Ruling on Budget

The Clermont County Library Board, in its second year, asks the state to overturn the county budget commission decision and fund a second bookmobile. It sought 55,049 but received 33,878, with plans for staff, books, and supplies. Prosecutor Ray Bradford may not assist.

Knot Hole Group Plans Banquet At D-X Ranch

The Clermont County Knot Hole group will hold a county banquet and knot hole meeting at the D-X Ranch next Tuesday evening Oct. 16 at 7 30 p m. All managers coaches and others connected with knot hole are invited to attend. Prize money will be distributed and plans for next season discussed. $25 000 Awarded In Damage Suit

Judge Harry Britton awarded $25 000 to George E Morlock on behalf of his daughter Julia 18 in a Cincinnati case against Edward Bass arising from a collision on U S 52 October 29 1955. Julia Morlock suffered multiple injuries as a passenger in L E Lepker s car. a woman in the Bass car died in the fire.

Slade Attendance Officer Dies of Heart Attack

Funeral services for Clarence L. Slade, 62, of Batavia were held Monday at Moore funeral home. Slade died Friday night of a heart attack. A retired Batavia rural mail carrier, he was recently named attendance officer by the Clermont County Board of Education. He is survived by his widow Edell and one son Robert.

Sheriff Returns Robbery Suspect to Answer Charge

William Wallace aged 26 of Elmwood Place was brought back from Franklinton Louisiana to face a robbery charge filed by Luther Allison of Norwood. Wallace allegedly took $127 and fled in an iron car on September 18 at a Clermont tavern. Sheriff Clyde Dericks escorted the suspect.

State Auditor Announces Second 1956 Vehicle License Fee Distribution

James A. Rhodes reports the second 1956 motor vehicle license fee distribution totaling 10,275,862.50 to counties cities and villages. Clermont receives 52,326 bringing year to date payouts to 45,911,160.30. May distribution was 30,595,297.40 with 5,040,000 to counties and townships in July. Checks go to county treasurers for further city and village distributions.

Free Salk Shots Planned for Clermont County

Clermont County health commissioner Dr. Charles Kramer announced plans to vaccinate kindergarten through third grade students with the Salk vaccine in all county schools. Parents will sign permission cards returned to schools before shots. The program aims to expand to higher grades after start, with immunization records kept at each school. The Clermont County League of Women Voters prepared the data and will present it this month.

Good Enters Plea Of Innocence In Death Of Boy

Charles Good 44 of Rt 3 Batavia pleaded not guilty at arraignment before Mayor J F Paschal on manslaughter and driving while intoxicated charges. He was held for Clermont County grand jury in 3000 bond, released on property bond with his wife. Wilfred Snyder Owensville signed the manslaughter charge. he is Robert Snyder's father, the 14 year old killed September 29 on State Route 132 by Good's car.

United Appeal Sunday mobilizes Clermont area drive

October 14 marks United Appeal Sunday as volunteers begin a major residential fund campaign through November 1 supporting 114 Community Chest agencies and 16 Red Cross services in Clermont Hamilton Boone Campbell and Kenton counties. Religious leaders endorse wide participation with sermons church bulletins posters and media backing.
