The Courier announces a fourth prize, a Roamer Universal Camera, as the race tightens with top contenders near 100,000 points. Mrs. Chris Straub leads at 106,300, followed by Mrs. Fred Lipps at 98,700 and Mrs. Joseph B. Jackson at 85,450.
Twelve Cincinnati investment firms read a joint bid to the Board of Commissioners for county revenue bonds to finance a water system. They would fund survey and construction, with Alfred Lefeber to conduct the feasibility study and potential construction. If approved, bonds retire in ten years at 102.5 percent.
Ohio officials ruled Amelia pitcher Kenny Gaskins eligible to play, keeping Amelia as 2 to 1 winner over Batavia on September 14. The decision preserves Amelia's County High School League title with a 6–0 mark to Batavia's 5–1.

Clermont County Prosecutor Ray Bradford says the new Grand Jury will hear 48 cases in a record session starting November 5. Among the matters is a second degree murder charge against Mrs. Alowease Howard near Bethel for fatally wounding her husband William.
In a combined meeting last week the Batavia Village Council and Board of Public Affairs approved extending a four inch water main from Old Boston Road to the Halbisch Subdivision. Two homes are under construction in W Halbisch Subdivision and six more are planned. James McHugh of Cincinnati awarded the pipe laying contract.
A Courier editorial quoted on WLW's Your Press and the War program argues farmers bear little of retail costs. It claims high prices stem from transportation packing and middlemen, not farmers, with examples of bread and clothing costs if farmers gave produce away.
William H. Gartner 27 of Blue Ash was trapped two hours after a Route 74 crash at Mt. Carmel left his car on its side. He was freed by Batavia residents Charles McGuire W Sterling Moore and Emil Dial and taken to Christ Hospital with compound leg fractures and head contusions. Fred A. Van Pelt of Montgomery also suffered a leg fracture and was hospitalized.
VFW Post 3954 in Batavia will hold a regular meeting Tuesday night at 7 30 in the Batavia Armory with members urged to attend.
Capt. Donald McGraw son of Mr and Mrs V N N McGraw Mt Carmel returns from Korea after more than a year. Parents learn another son Nelson McGraw and wife welcomed a baby girl at Fort Collins Colorado.
The Clermont County Women's Republican Club and the Citizens Republican Club join in a regular meeting tonight at 7 39 at the Felicity School House.
Clermont County draft board prepares to induct six men next week instead of the planned 16 after fewer eligible applicants were found. Inductions set for Tuesday include Albert F. Anderson Jr. and others. pre induction tests on Wednesday will involve 17 men from several townships.
